Technology paves the way for industrial parks to enter the green and smart era

Big Data, AI, IoT… the pillar technologies of the 4.0 revolution are paving the way for industrial parks to enter a new era - a green and smart era.

Reshaping the future of industrial parks

Robots in Tesla's factories automatically assemble cars precisely according to the process, increasing production efficiency and reducing costs. AI and Big Data technology applied at General Electric factories monitor and analyze machine performance, minimize downtime, and increase operational efficiency.

IoT solutions applied in Siemens' industrial parks help monitor and adjust production processes effectively, thereby improving product quality and reducing waste. The industrial ecosystem is developed as a natural, circular ecosystem such as in the Kalundborg eco- industrial park (Denmark)...

The technological slices in smart factories and smart industrial parks have revealed a corner of the fourth industrial revolution that is changing everything. In which technologies such as Big Data, AI (artificial intelligence), IoT (Internet of Things), Edge Computing (edge computing) ... are the core elements of digital in this 4.0 industrial revolution.

Currently, traditional industrial parks are facing problems of high energy consumption, environmental pollution, poor data management, ineffective waste and resource management, leading to waste and pollution... Meanwhile, the application of 4.0 technology can solve these problems and create a more sustainable and smarter future for industrial parks.

Net Zero Stream Opportunity

Not only helping to solve internal problems in traditional industrial zones, technological solutions also help businesses and industrial zones transform to "catch the wave" of green transformation trends, which are the development orientation choice of many countries.

More than 130 countries have committed to net zero emissions by 2050, including Vietnam. Policies such as the EU’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) or the US carbon draft… are forming new rules of the game on “green production - green export”. This will strongly encourage parties to participate more deeply in the greening process.

Developing and converting green industrial zones is one of Vietnam's priorities to accelerate the process towards Net Zero.

At the Vietnam Industrial Park Real Estate Forum 2024, experts affirmed that the digital transformation trend in industrial parks will create green transformation, helping to protect competitiveness, attract investment, and create opportunities to maintain production and international sales.

Current trends show that the industrial real estate market is moving towards greening every step, from real estate development to operation and production. In fact, in Vietnam and other countries in the region, green industrial parks, especially those associated with ESG (environmental - social - governance) criteria, are becoming the priority choice of foreign investors. In the future, experts predict that this will be a new competitive advantage to replace price competition.

Cooperation for development

In Vietnam, to implement the National Strategy and Green Development for the 2021-2030 period, as well as the Government's commitment at COP26, traditional industrial parks will need to be changed and developed in a sustainable direction, approaching international requirements.

However, the road ahead is full of difficulties and challenges that require cooperation from many parties to achieve sustainable development goals.

Mr. Ho Anh Thang, Director of TNTech solutions, shared: “We can imagine the application of digital transformation and green transformation in the industrial park sector as a relay race. There, international trade policies and laws in countries create the rules of the game and businesses are the relay runners. Technology businesses will be the first athletes, applying technology to develop smart industrial park solutions. Then, transfer to the next runners, industrial parks and businesses. All must coordinate smoothly, accurately, optimize speed and coordination to bring the final victory to all.”

On the journey of digital transformation along with green transformation, countries and businesses certainly need to build new strategic cooperation networks that can exploit the full potential, share resources and knowledge, thereby creating added value and continuous innovation. Cooperation will be the driving force for development and success in an increasingly interconnected world.
