Announcement of resolution to establish Viet Yen town

On the evening of January 18, Bac Giang province held a ceremony to announce the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee on the establishment of Viet Yen town. Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue attended and spoke at the event.

Here, Secretary General of the National Assembly Bui Van Cuong announced the resolution of the National Assembly Standing Committee to establish Viet Yen town in Bac Giang province. Accordingly, Viet Yen town has an area of 171 km2, a population of nearly 230,000 people, including 17 commune-level units (9 wards and 8 communes).

Speaking at the ceremony, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue emphasized that the establishment of Viet Yen town is an event of special significance, an important premise to promote economic development and improve the material and spiritual life of the people.

At the same time, it is suggested that Viet Yen mobilize resources, especially high-quality resources in state management, business administration, science and technology with the motto "recruiting talented people, talented people are the vitality of the nation". Viet Yen needs to focus on perfecting the town government apparatus, building e-government, prioritizing resources to build technical infrastructure, especially in industrial parks, urban areas, etc.

The National Assembly Chairman also requested Party committees, authorities and people of Viet Yen town and Bac Giang province to focus on implementing key tasks such as promoting local strengths, improving leadership capacity, and strictly and thoroughly following policies.

In the period of 2023-2025, Bac Giang province also plans to propose merging Yen Dung district into Bac Giang city; adjusting the administrative boundaries of Luc Ngan district and Son Dong district to establish Chu town (new) and still maintain Luc Ngan district and Son Dong district; implementing the arrangement of 32 commune-level administrative units to reduce 17 units.

On the occasion of the New Year 2024, the Spring of Giap Thin and the traditional Tet, National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue wished Viet Yen town to have more and more great achievements; wished Viet Yen to always be "peaceful, happy and develop sustainably".
