On December 27, Ho Chi Minh City Police announced that the two-level police investigation agency had prosecuted a total of 16 additional suspects and seized an additional 21 kg of illegally traded cyanide.
Accordingly, continuing to strictly implement the direction of the Ministry of Public Security's leaders on a general review and inspection of the production, trading, use and transportation of dangerous chemicals, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Economic Police force continues to investigate and expand cases of illegal storage and trading of toxic substances (cyanide) to strictly and thoroughly handle them according to the provisions of the law.
Specifically, through the expanded investigation of the case of "illegal storage and trading of toxic substances" that occurred at HBC Trading Company Limited (Tan Hung Thuan Ward, District 12, Ho Chi Minh City) initiated on October 29, the Investigation Police Agency of District 12 Police continued to prosecute and temporarily detain 12 people to investigate the crime of "illegal trading of toxic substances".
At the same time, 1kg of cyanide was also seized illegally bought and sold from HBC Trading Company Limited.
In addition, during the peak period of launching a campaign to suppress all types of crimes and ensure security and order during the 2025 Lunar New Year, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency also discovered, prosecuted the case, and prosecuted 4 people including:
Tran Van Nghia (45 years old, residing in Binh Duong province), Ta Tran Huan (42 years old), Bui Hong Quang (37 years old, both residing in Tien Giang province) and Duong Duc Dung (51 years old, residing in Long An province) to be investigated for the crime of illegally buying, selling and storing cyanide.
In the above case, the investigation agency seized a total of 20kg of cyanide and many other related exhibits.
