Opportunity to learn and approach large international oil and gas corporations

Gastech 2024 Conference takes place from September 17-20 in Houston, Texas (USA), is a global event for large enterprises and energy industry experts; a gathering place to orient and find future customers for oil and gas enterprises (including exploitation, production, use of LNG fuels and solutions to combat CO2 emissions, absorb CH4 gas, use hydrogen fuel...).

The event was attended by many US federal and state officials. Hundreds of the world’s largest oil and gas companies attended and exhibited at the exhibition. Approximately 50,000 people attended, 7,000 delegations, 1,000 speakers from 125 countries/territories, 800 exhibitors…

Prior to the Gastech 2024 event in Houston, the US LNG Association (LNGAllies, https://lngallies.com) organized the Asian-US Round table to connect partners and seek opportunities with the Asian market. The event was attended by the largest global energy corporations in LNG and representatives of Asian diplomatic agencies... in Houston.

Gastech 2024 is the largest annual gas event in the US, a place for businesses and energy experts to orient and find future customers for the oil and gas industry, especially LNG.

Many types of technologies and fuels are demonstrated at different scales, including completed technologies (that can be used on a large scale) and many that require additional research time and investment capital, costs and completion time) to be put into practical use at reasonable costs (such as Hydrogen technology solutions, CO2 landfilling, CO2 and CH4 absorption during exploitation, operation, CO2 recovery after using fuels that emit emissions, etc.).

Many partners in Vietnam attended, including delegations of several corporations and businesses. The US Consul General in Vietnam led a number of Vietnamese businesses to explore market opportunities.

Partnerships with Vietnam, on LNG and other clean energy, there are currently many international partners interested in LNG and the Vietnamese market, but most of them are consulting partners, some projects have been and are being implemented on a small scale (compared to the Asian region), there is a lack of potential investors; international enterprises are looking for ways to approach and participate in large projects according to the newly issued Power Plan VIII of Vietnam; some partners are participating in surveys and research to find investment projects and gradually mobilize capital if feasible. Therefore, related Vietnamese enterprises need to further check the capacity of partners and appropriate technology.

Currently, many governments and international partners are still pursuing policies to research and use clean energy and reduce emissions.

At the Climate Change Summits at COP26, 27, 28, countries have the opportunity to improve the production environment, reduce emissions, and gradually limit the production and use of materials that are harmful to health, the environment, and cause natural disasters. Therefore, through events such as GasTech 2024, businesses have the opportunity to learn about new technologies and gradually have partners to transfer them to Vietnam, which is necessary and urgent.

Some points to note

Focus on energy policy consulting and advisory work. When major countries change their policies regarding the use of new models/technologies, fuel types, etc., they will abandon old approaches. This is often seen in the US, EU, etc.

It is necessary to have comprehensive and suitable solutions (in terms of capital and technology) and have independent, qualified consulting partners in the right field to help businesses avoid risks when making long-term investments.

It is necessary to grasp and monitor to coordinate when Vietnamese enterprises cooperate with foreign enterprises to mobilize capital and enjoy funding policies from governments (such as the United States, EU) to ensure long-term investment efficiency, especially with new technology energy projects with large capital.

In-depth research on imported technology processes and complete, sustainable, long-term technology solutions. Many partners are currently focusing mainly on selling raw materials, machinery and technology in the short term.

Do not support the transfer of obsolete technologies (when partners prepare to relocate industrial zones that cause emissions, pollution, etc., which can have major impacts on the economy and national energy security).
