The AP (Advanced Placement) program is recognized and used by many universities around the world as a scholarship criterion.
AP is designed by the College Board, often called advanced classes or college preparatory programs. The program includes 6 majors, including: Art, English, History and Social Sciences, Mathematics - Computer Science, Science, World Languages and Cultures. In addition, students take two additional college-level academic skills courses (AP Research and AP Seminar).
The program offers college-level courses and exams for high school students. When enrolled in these courses, students can take the relevant exams; they receive a certificate upon satisfactory test results. Specific criteria for earning an AP certificate may vary, depending on the school or organization.
However, throughout the learning process, schools applying AP aim to help learners practice in depth with a systematic curriculum taught by a team of highly specialized teachers. Thanks to that, students can be exposed to and cultivate soft skills necessary for the university path such as critical thinking, learning ability, and time management skills.

According to Dr. Robert Williams - Dean of Academics at ISHCMC-American Academy (ISHCMC-AA), the AP Diploma provides an opportunity for high school students to develop the academic skills necessary to succeed in college.
"This program is widely recognized worldwide because the subjects taught in the program are equivalent to university level, helping students' study abroad applications stand out," he added.
ISHCMC-AA is also one of the first schools in Vietnam to offer this program. To date, many students here have been accepted to more than 50 universities worldwide and received more than 5.5 million USD in scholarships by 2023.

Among them, Tran Le Hai Trieu (student of the class of 2023) received the valedictorian degree at ISHCMC-AA and enrolled in four top universities in the US, including: University of Texas (Austin), UC Irvine, UC San Diego and Drake University with a total scholarship value of 108,000 USD.
I am an excellent student in the AP College Preparation Program, excelling in most subjects, and at the same time, actively supplementing my knowledge with extracurricular activities such as organizing the High School Prom, participating in the "All-gender bathroom" project, or fundraising projects as a member of the ISHCMC-AA Student Leadership Council.
"I want to move forward with the experiences I have, from small skills such as cultural adaptation, personal time management, discipline to budget management skills, calculating data or being a 'locomotive' to steer the project," the female student shared.

During her time at ISHCMC-AA, Hai Trieu enjoyed listening and sharing the problems her friends were facing, so she found that Psychology was quite suitable for her. With guidance from Mr. Williams and the opportunity to work as an assistant in the Psychology Counseling Department at her high school, the female student understood more about this major and was determined to pursue it when she went to university.
According to Hai Trieu, the spiral of invisible pressures and "dark" substances in life gradually causes people's mental health to become unstable. Meanwhile, the field of Psychology in Vietnam is still quite new and most of the experts in the field come from other countries with different understandings of Vietnamese culture and society. That creates barriers to communication and understanding in the process of listening and healing the psychology of Vietnamese people.
"The path to healing the inner child is always full of challenges and sometimes makes us confused with worries. I want my sincere support to help people who feel alone when facing psychological crises, thereby welcoming more positive energy," Trieu shared.
