Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, Head of UNESCO Office in Vietnam, spoke at the Ceremony. |
At the ceremony, Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker, Head of UNESCO Office in Vietnam, UNESCO highly appreciated the long-term partnership with Thua Thien Hue - where the conservation of Hue Monuments has been carried out with great enthusiasm and achieved remarkable results. Thirty years ago, UNESCO and the world community recognized the urgency in cooperating with Vietnam to preserve and protect these precious heritages. “The challenges we face, with UNESCO and Vietnam - an important member state of UNESCO, are the conservation, restoration and embellishment, protecting the original state of our world heritage. An equally important task is the problems of the modern world that require us to be more active, such as strengthening our preparedness to respond to the impacts of climate change, helping our world heritages to be more resilient to man-made disasters or natural disasters, while optimizing the well-being of the people. To do this, the active participation of the community, including young people and women living in and around this heritage, is needed,” said Mr. Jonathan Wallace Baker./.
