The Literature exam for grade 10 high school students in Khanh Hoa province on June 5 consisted of two parts. In the Reading section, the test quoted an excerpt from the article "The Reason for 1,000 Dong" published in the Vietnamese Women's Newspaper on May 22.
Students were asked to find the cause of the argument between the shipper and the girl receiving the goods, after the shipper rounded up the amount because he did not have 1,000 VND to give change.

Many students said they felt quite comfortable completing the test because the questions were easy to understand and within their ability.
"The 3-point test is relevant and helps me understand more about how to behave in society. Sometimes in many issues, I have to learn to be tolerant and sympathetic to others," said Nguyen Tang Thanh Tai, Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School, Nha Trang City.
Mr. Nguyen Van Cuong, a secondary school teacher in Khanh Vinh town, commented that the test had a humanistic meaning, guiding students to behave moderately with events in life or on social networks. Mr. Cuong also commented that the test helped assess the learners' abilities and qualities.
"The requirement to express personal opinions on interpersonal relationships and clearly distinguish right from wrong creates conditions for students to express their personal opinions and know how to discuss a common issue in life," said Mr. Cuong.
Mr. Vo Hoan Hai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, said that on the day of the Literature and Math exams, more than 13,000 candidates registered to take the exam, and no candidate violated the regulations. The quota for entering grade 10 in the whole province is more than 10,300.
On the morning of June 6, candidates continued to take the English exam in the form of multiple choice and essay questions, with a time limit of 60 minutes. In the afternoon of the same day, students who registered for the 10th grade specialized exam will take the specialized subject exam to win a place at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in Nha Trang City.
