Art program "Aspiration for Peace"

On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day, on the evening of July 24, 2022, in Quang Tri, the Central Secretariat of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union organized the art program "Aspiration for Peace". The art program "Aspiration for Peace" was held in the heroic land of Quang Tri to commemorate the 75th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day and the 50th anniversary of the liberation of Quang Tri province, the 50th anniversary of the 81-day and night fighting event to protect Quang Tri Citadel. Through singing, dancing, artistic commentary; screen graphics and documentary reports, the program revived a very heroic historical period of our nation.

The program was held at Liberation Square connecting with the stage space of Quang Tri Ancient Citadel Bell Tower and Thach Han River Flower Wharf.

Vietnam.vn would like to present the touching images of the program through the photo series "Art program "Aspiration for Peace" by author Bui Ngoc Tam. The program is to commemorate and pay deep gratitude to the previous generations, the heroes and martyrs who fell in the struggle for national independence and freedom, peace for the country, and prosperity and happiness for the people. The photo series was sent by the author to participate in the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam", organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Beloved President Ho Chi Minh once advised, “When eating the fruit, remember the person who planted the tree.” Today we must remember the heroic martyrs.

The program took place with 3 main chapters: Blood and flowers; Blood and peace; Song of Songs. Through singing, dancing, artistic commentary; screen graphics and documentary reports, the program revived a very heroic historical period of our nation.

With the main image throughout being “The River of Desire,” the program has led viewers’ emotions to different levels, such as the image of the river in the past carrying the dreams and ambitions of the generation of fathers and grandfathers in their twenties, ready to fight and sacrifice to protect national independence and the happiness of the people.

You fell on this land, using your bright red blood to write immortal epics for the independence and freedom of the country. The river today carries the aspirations for a prosperous and happy life of the nation and the desire for peace for all humanity, without separation, loss or suffering.

This is expressed by the "color of peace" imbued with the "soul" of the Vietnamese people in the midst of hardship, sacrifice, and loss, but still steadfastly united to build a new life on the fierce battlefields of the past.

The aspiration for peace today of a nation that has suffered much pain and loss is expressed through the image of the youth building the homeland following the words of beloved Uncle Ho. All of this is expressed in the sacred river with the flow of life, growth, and change that connects the past, present, and future in a consistent “Aspiration for Peace”.

How many outstanding children of the nation at the age of eighteen or twenty put aside their dreams and ambitions, followed the sacred call of the Fatherland and heroically fell to fight for every square meter of land in Quang Tri Citadel. Place names such as Hien Luong Bridge, Ben Hai River, Ta Con, Doc Mieu, Khe Sanh... will forever go down in the history of the nation.

Lying on the land of Quang Tri are 60,000 martyrs in 72 cemeteries; their blood and bones have merged into the Thach Han River, into the motherland. They have heroically sacrificed their youth for their homeland.

Over the past 75 years, many policies of the Party and State have been issued; the policy for people with revolutionary contributions is a policy of honor and is the leading policy of the Party and State.

Many practical activities have supported and helped war invalids, sick soldiers, martyrs' relatives, and people with meritorious services, bringing warm feelings, sharing, and gratitude, contributing to promoting the tradition of "When drinking water, remember its source", promoting the spirit of patriotism and compatriots, bringing profound meaning to the young generation of Vietnam.

For many years, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union and the youth of the whole country have always paid attention to preserving and continuing the traditions of previous generations. Many activities of gratitude to meritorious people by the youth have left good feelings that have been recognized and highly appreciated by the Party, the State, the society and meritorious people. The aspiration of today's youth is to follow in the footsteps of their ancestors to build a prosperous and strong country.

After the war, Quang Tri rose strongly and revived with many positive and valuable results. She congratulated Quang Tri province on its achievements over the past years and wished for the people's lives to become better and better, especially the lives of those with meritorious services.

In 2024, the Photo and Video Contest "Happy Vietnam - Happy Vietnam" continues to be organized by the Ministry of Information and Communications in coordination with the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists on the website.   https://happy.vietnam.vn is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners aged 15 and over. The contest aims to honor individuals and groups with positive information products, making practical contributions to the propaganda and promotion of a beautiful image of Vietnam to the world. Thereby helping people in the country, compatriots abroad and international friends access authentic images of the country, Vietnamese people, Vietnam's achievements in ensuring human rights, towards a happy Vietnam.

Each contest category (photo and video) has the following prizes and prize values:
– 01 Gold Medal: 70,000,000 VND
– 02 Silver Medals: 20,000,000 VND
– 03 Bronze Medals: 10,000,000 VND
– 10 Consolation prizes: 5,000,000 VND
– 01 most voted work: 5,000,000 VND
The winning authors will be invited by the Organizing Committee to attend the announcement ceremony and award prizes and certificates on live television broadcast of Vietnam Television.
