President Vo Van Thuong receives Secretary General of the World Federation of Trade Unions

President Vo Van Thuong and Secretary General of the World Federation of Trade Unions Pampis Kyrisis exchanged views at the reception.

Also attending the reception was Party Central Committee member, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Dinh Khang.

The World Federation of Trade Unions is the oldest international trade union organization, standing on the working class’s position and increasingly becoming an indispensable support for 110 million union members in 217 trade union organizations of 133 countries and territories. Over the past 78 years, the World Federation of Trade Unions has strived to fight for and protect the legitimate rights and interests of workers around the world.

President Vo Van Thuong welcomed and thanked the Secretary General and the high-ranking delegation of the World Federation of Trade Unions for visiting Vietnam and attending the 13th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.

The President stated: The Party and State of Vietnam highly appreciate the great support and important contributions of the World Federation of Trade Unions to the Vietnamese people and workers in the two wars for national independence as well as in the current cause of building and defending the Vietnamese Fatherland.

The President affirmed: Under the leadership of the Party and State of Vietnam, the Vietnam Trade Union always adheres to its mission of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.

President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the recent Congress of the World Federation of Trade Unions, which reaffirmed the goal of building a strong working class and improving the lives of workers worldwide. The Vietnam General Confederation of Labour has actively participated with the International Federation of Trade Unions in realizing that noble goal.

Stating that the Party and State of Vietnam always support and create the best conditions for the Vietnam Trade Union to be an active and responsible member of the World Federation of Trade Unions, the President expressed his hope that the World Federation of Trade Unions will continue to support Vietnam in the cause of national construction and defense, for the goal of "rich people, strong country, democracy, equality, civilization"; pay attention to and support the Vietnam Trade Union in integrating, developing, fulfilling the mission of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and legal rights and interests of union members and workers...

At the reception, the Secretary General of the World Federation of Trade Unions thanked the country and people of Vietnam for always paying attention and providing valuable support to the organization, and highly appreciated the Vietnam General Confederation of Trade Unions as an important component of the World Federation of Trade Unions...
