On the afternoon of September 16, the Provincial Steering Committee for Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue and Civil Defense (PCTT, TKCN & PTDS) issued Official Dispatch No. 17 to the PCTT, TKCN & PTDS Steering Committees of coastal districts, towns and cities and relevant departments, branches and units to proactively respond to the developments of the tropical depression (ATND).

Proactively respond to developments of tropical depression

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, a tropical depression (TLD) is active in the sea east of Luzon Island (Philippines). At 1:00 p.m. on September 16, the center of the TLD was at about 17.1 degrees North latitude, 123.9 degrees East longitude with winds of level 6-7, gusts of level 9, moving mainly westward, at a speed of about 15km/h; in the next 24 hours, the TLD is forecast to move westward at a speed of 15-20km/h, at a strength of level 7, gusts of level 9 and is likely to strengthen into a storm.

Pursuant to Official Dispatch No. 6851/CD-BNN-DD dated September 16, 2024 of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development; to proactively respond to the developments of natural disasters, the Provincial Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention requests the Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, Search and Rescue and Disaster Prevention of coastal districts, towns and cities and relevant departments, branches and units to direct the implementation of closely monitoring the developments of natural disasters; strictly manage means of transport going out to sea; organize counting and notify owners of means of transport, captains of ships and boats operating at sea of ​​the location, direction of movement and developments of natural disasters to proactively avoid, escape or not move into dangerous areas. Dangerous areas in the next 24 hours, from latitude 15.0 - 19.0, east of longitude 117.5 (dangerous areas are adjusted in forecast bulletins). Ready forces and means for rescue when required.

Thanh Hoa Radio and Television Station, Thanh Hoa Newspaper, Thanh Hoa Coastal Information Station strengthen measures to inform about the developments of natural disasters to authorities at all levels, owners of vehicles operating at sea and people to proactively prevent and respond.

Organize on-duty seriously, regularly report to the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control and the Standing Office of the Provincial Command for Civil Defense, Natural Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.
