P must use the results of the entire 12th grade year for admission.

According to the 2025 university admission regulations, there will be no more early admissions. As in previous years, universities are allowed to use admission methods based on academic results and exam results for each subject (summary scores of high school subjects, high school graduation exam scores and other assessment results). However, from this year, the regulations will add weighting regulations for some key subjects in the admission combination.

For example, in the subject combination used for admission, there must be math or literature, with the weight of the score not less than 25% (in the combination of at least 3 subjects suitable to the characteristics and requirements of the training program). Or with the method of using foreign language certificates, the university can convert the certificate score into foreign language subject score with the weight not exceeding 50% of the total admission score.

In particular, this year the regulations require that in cases where high school academic results are used for admission, the candidate's entire 12th grade academic results must be used. The weight of the 12th grade academic results in calculating the score must not be less than 25%. According to the Ministry of Education and Training, this regulation aims to ensure that the contribution of the entire 12th grade academic results is not too low when calculating the score.

Publicly announce the rules for converting equivalent admission scores

The 2025 University Admissions Regulations stipulate that training institutions using multiple admission methods must return to a common scale when determining benchmark scores.

Specifically, if a program/major/group of majors has many admission methods or many admission combinations, the university must determine the conversion rules equivalent to the input threshold and admission score of the admission methods, admission methods, and admission combinations. according to the general instructions of the Ministry of Education and Training. Schools do not specify separate admission codes or quotas for each admission method or admission combination (except for the regulation of direct admission quotas).

According to the Ministry of Education and Training, with this regulation, universities do not have to allocate quotas for admission methods, avoiding risks when considering admission according to the quotas of each method such as the difference in scores between methods being too large, some methods have very high admission scores, admission scores based on academic records are lower than admission scores based on high school graduation exam results, etc.

In addition, to ensure that candidates have full information during the application process, the regulations stipulating the equivalent conversion rules must be publicly announced at the latest at the same time as the time of announcing the input quality assurance threshold.

Candidates do not need to choose a method code, combination code... they just need to clearly identify the program, major, training group and training institution they want to study to decide to register. The general enrollment support system of the Ministry of Education and Training will use the method with the highest result of the candidate for admission consideration.

Some other notable new points of the 2025 university admission regulations are that there is no limit on the number of admission combinations, and the total score does not exceed 10% of the maximum score of the admission scale...
