Shocked by the meager salary of Vietnamese films, seen from Kieu Trinh's story

On the evening of November 6, actress Kieu Trinh livestreamed about being refused proper payment by the film producer for the film she had just filmed.

Actress Kieu Trinh

Compared to previous cases, the story of Kieu Trinh Not new and not much money, but once again shows that Vietnamese TV production has too many abnormalities.

Kieu Trinh said that after 20 years in the profession, she only livestreamed to talk about an unpleasant matter. "The amount of 1.2 million VND is not worth it, but I know that there are many actors who are not paid. I have no choice but to bring this matter up," she said.

Agreement 4 days filming but actually 3 days

Director Hong Loan agreed to pay 2 million VND/day. The two sides agreed to film 4 days for 6 episodes, but in reality the crew only filmed 3 days. The producer only paid for these 3 days of filming.

Kieu Trinh summarizes her story as follows:

Director Hong Loan invited Kieu Trinh to film Tet sitcom 6 episodes in 4 days.

The price is 1.8 million VND/episode. Kieu Trinh thinks that price is too low.

Finally, the two sides agreed to film 6 episodes in 4 days for 8 million VND (equivalent to 2 million VND/day).

However, the producer forced the filming date down to only 3 days and they paid Kieu Trinh 6 million VND. She lost 1.2 million VND (after deducting 800,000 VND, which is 10% personal income tax).

Kieu Trinh disagreed and was also dissatisfied with the producer's attitude when working together.

Meanwhile, director Hong Loan wrote on Facebook that she was not at fault, and provided evidence that she agreed to pay 2 million VND/episode.

According to actress Kieu Trinh, the two have no contract yet, they have only agreed by text message and phone call.

Putting aside the analysis of who is right and who is wrong, but looking at the price the producer offered for a famous actress like Kieu Trinh makes many people shocked.

The initial salary of only 1.8 million VND/episode is too low. It is even lower than the actor's salary 10 years ago.

Vietnamese actors' salaries are meager and shrinking.

Recently, the Korean film industry has been having headaches because of the sky-high salaries of Korean actors. Specifically, according to Newsen , Kim Soo Hyun is paid 800 million won (nearly 15 billion VND) for each episode. Queen of tears.

Korean actors are paid extremely high salaries. In the picture is the movie Queen of Tears.

Comparing with Korean movies is lame, but looking at the figure of 1.8 million VND/episode that the Vietnamese producer gave, we can see Vietnamese actor salary what a waste

An anonymous actor said this is the suffering of actors today: "For decades, actors' salaries have not changed, they have even decreased, causing our lives to decline."

There are films that sign contracts with actors to act in 30 episodes, but in reality the number of episodes after airing increases, but the actors do not receive additional pay for the difference in the number of episodes. This is a paradox.

Besides, the current film production situation still has many concerns about the script, the production process is not strict, the actors and production crew are oppressed. This greatly affects the quality of the film.

Perhaps it is time for producers, actors and production crews to work seriously and transparently. Everyone’s labor must be paid fairly and convincingly so that these sad stories of accusations will no longer be embarrassing on the internet.

Actress Kieu Trinh said: "Through this incident, I want young actors to learn a lesson that from now on they should not put too much emotion into their work but must be clear about everything.

I think the way the production crew disrespects the actors also lowers the actors' spirit and value."
