'The rural market on Tan Thuan Dong islet (Dong Thap) is a typical product of the Mekong Delta. If other places could do this, they would be rich and wouldn't have to spend money on tours anymore,' reader danhdanh commented.

After Tuoi Tre Online published the article "What is it about the rural market on the islet that makes visitors from near and far excited?" on December 17, it attracted many views, likes, hearts and comments.
Reader Tran Hai shared: "I came here once, the prices of local dishes or agricultural products and fruits are cheap, no haggling. Everything is very neat and orderly thanks to the organization of the local government here. I am very impressed with this."
"The rural market of Tan Thuan Dong islet (Dong Thap) is a typical product of the Mekong Delta. If other places could do it like this, they would be rich... and wouldn't have to spend money on tours anymore," commented a reader with the nickname "danhdanh".
However, reader Duc Tang expressed his opinion that people are never satisfied with the present. If we had lived in this situation in the past, we would have longed for a civilized, modern urban life. But now that we have it, we want to return to the countryside of the past.
"After all, it is also good to create conditions for people in the countryside to have more income," the opinion stated.
Reader Phan Bang Dao responded to Duc Tang's comment: "Agree that "returning to the old days", but more civilized, more polite, more modern, greener. And returning to know how grandparents, parents... worked in the past (not too long ago), how they integrated with the times, so that we can have today. Through that, we cherish the present more, reaching for the future".
"That's what traveling is all about! Going to a place where people are bored and vice versa...", reader Mr. Nguyen commented.
Reader Tam said: "If well organized and promoted, this is a way to attract tourists."
"Along the banks of the Co Chien River, Tra Vinh also needs to promote tourism according to this model, developing green tourism is the best," reader Huy Nguyen added.

Tan Thuan Dong Con Countryside Market (Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province) is an agricultural tourism model combined with community tourism launched at the end of December 2022.
To date, more than 100 markets have been organized, with 64 households participating with 200 local workers, attracting 250,000 domestic and foreign visitors. On average, each visitor spends 150,000 VND when visiting the rural market, with an estimated revenue of 16.4 billion VND and profit of 7.2 billion VND.
To organize the community tourism model, Cao Lanh City People's Committee mobilized people to participate in selling traditional dishes and local agricultural products, and mobilized 3 more gardeners to grow grapes and apples for tourism.
In order to maintain and develop the rural market model, Cao Lanh City People's Committee has invested 651 million VND in 2022, more than 1 billion VND in 2023, and 1.5 billion VND in 2024 to invest in infrastructure, upgrade landscape clusters, upgrade the electrical system of landscape bridges, piers and experience areas.
Establish 5 more teams to ensure security, order, traffic safety, guide passengers up and down the pier; 4 market management teams to weekly check goods for food hygiene and safety; and comply with market regulations.
