Authorities in Nui Thanh district practically accompany OCOP subjects

Priority funding support

Mr. Ngo Duc An - Vice Chairman of Nui Thanh District People's Committee said that the OCOP program has been implemented in the district since the end of 2018.

To date, the entire district has 31 products meeting 3-4 star OCOP standards, and in 2024 alone, 4 3-star OCOP products will be developed. Among the above products, there are many local specialties and advantages, registered trademarks, with full traceability information, and packaging that meets consumer tastes.

According to Mr. An, to achieve such positive results, along with the attention and support of the province, Nui Thanh district soon added the tasks of the steering committee of national target programs, established a product classification and evaluation council, especially established a district support team to directly guide and support product owners participating in the program.

“The working group works specifically with the subjects to determine the content that needs to be implemented and the investment needed to build and develop the product. From there, promptly advise the District People's Committee to support State funding so that the subjects have more resources to implement,” said Mr. An.

According to OCOP product owners in Nui Thanh, the government's attention has helped them improve product designs and have the opportunity to invest in modern machinery and equipment for production to increase sales, revenue and profits.

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu - Director of Hoang Hai Agricultural Cooperative (Tam Quang commune) said that the Cooperative was established in 2018 and throughout the development process, it has always had the accompaniment, advice and timely support of the State. Thanks to that, the Cooperative has transformed its production structure from general livestock farming to high-tech mushroom growing, bringing practical results.

According to Mr. Vu, Hoang Hai Agricultural Cooperative was transferred by the Department of Science and Technology of Quang Nam high-tech mushroom growing techniques on a substrate of bagged mushroom spawn from raw materials such as sawdust, coffee grounds, sugar cane, straw, and rotten wood.

This has created a launching pad for the cooperative to build a brand with products from lingzhi mushrooms, abalone, wood ear mushrooms... bringing high economic efficiency. In particular, Hoang Hai wood ear mushroom powder product achieved 3-star OCOP standard at the provincial level in 2021. In 2020, the cooperative had 2 products, Hoang Hai lingzhi tea and Hoang Hai lingzhi mushrooms, recognized by the Provincial People's Committee as meeting 3-star OCOP standard.

By the end of 2023, Hoang Hai Agricultural Cooperative will continue to receive financial support to implement the project "Application of advanced machinery and equipment in the production of mushroom products".

Mr. Nguyen Thanh Vu said that thanks to this support, the cooperative has invested in a medicinal herb grinder, a dry powder mixer, a granulation machine, and a 4-sided packaging machine with printed expiration dates. Thereby, helping the unit increase productivity, improve product quality, reduce production costs, and increase profits...

Support with multiple solutions

In recent years, the People's Committee of Nui Thanh district has focused on implementing solutions to support OCOP product owners to strongly develop production and promote trade to increase sales, revenue and profits.

In particular, Nui Thanh prioritizes financial support for entities to upgrade machinery and equipment for production. According to statistics, from 2020 to now, the district has supported 940 million VND for 8 entities to have conditions to purchase machinery and equipment for production...

In 2024 alone, 4 individual households and businesses will be supported with 71 million VND/unit, including Tri Tin Thinh Company Limited (Tam Xuan 1 Commune) to develop VINACAKE Chung Cake products; Ho Giang Thom Farm Cooperative (Tam My Tay Commune) with herbal chicken jerky products; Hien Truong sausage business household (Tam My Dong Commune) with Hien Truong sausage products; Thuy Ha business household (Tam Tien Commune) with vegetable puffed sweet potato cakes. In addition, Quang Nam Medicinal Materials Joint Stock Company (Tam Xuan 1 Commune) was also supported by the district with 76 million VND for freeze-dried yogurt products.

The People's Committee of Nui Thanh district continuously organizes local events and fairs to promote OCOP products. At the same time, it creates conditions for entities to participate in many exhibitions and fairs in the province and other localities to promote trade and connect partners to consume products. In addition, Nui Thanh has built an OCOP display and sales point in Tam Anh Nam commune.

Mr. Ngo Duc An acknowledged that many rural development policies are currently effective, contributing to promoting and increasing the value of agricultural products, developing markets, and effectively promoting existing local advantages. These are conditions to promote the OCOP program and increase the quantity and quality of products.

“In the coming time, we will focus on overcoming the limitation of many entities not continuing to participate in re-ranking OCOP products. Continue to implement the project of restructuring the agricultural sector associated with building new rural areas and applying scientific and technological advances to the production of deeply processed products in the agricultural and aquatic sectors. Synchronously invest in infrastructure serving production to create leverage to support rural economic development, helping entities easily develop OCOP products…” - Mr. Ngo Duc An said.
