The Maitreya Buddha statue on Cam Mountain has become one of the outstanding religious art works in An Giang.
The total weight of the base and the statue shell is nearly 1,700 tons of reinforced concrete, in the 2.2-hectare Buddha statue area. To build the Maitreya Buddha statue on Cam Mountain, about 60 workers worked continuously for nearly 2 years.

This work was recognized as the "Largest sitting Buddha statue in Vietnam" in 2006 and was recognized by the Center for Records as one of 14 Vietnamese Buddhist records in 2008.

In 2013, the project was recognized by the Asia Book of Records and the Vietnam Book of Records Center as the largest Maitreya Buddha statue on a mountain top in Asia.
