Throughout the writing career of journalist Hai Trieu was an uncompromising struggle against the French colonial authorities. The most obvious was during the struggle period of the Indochina Democratic Front (1936 - 1939) when he was in the role of Editor-in-Chief (equivalent to today's Editor-in-Chief) of the newspaper Nhanh Lua .
FROM THE GO ODART RECEPTION MOVEMENT …
Many researchers of the history of journalism in Hue City, when analyzing the role of Nhanh Lua newspaper in the revolutionary struggle movement in the period of 1936 - 1939, all have the same opinion that this was the first public newspaper of the Central Region Party Committee. According to writer Ho Dang Thanh Ngoc, Chairman of the Union of Literature and Arts Associations of Hue City, the Central Region Party Committee advocated the publication of Nhanh Lua weekly newspaper with Mr. Nguyen Xuan Lu as its owner, editor-in-chief and manager. Journalist Hai Trieu - Nguyen Khoa Van was the General Secretary of the editorial board, similar to today's Editor-in-Chief. Directing the content and participating in the editorial board were Nguyen Chi Dieu, Hai Ha, Hai Thanh, Lam Mong Quang, etc.

According to many documents, the first issue of Nhanh Lua was published on January 15, 1937, the last issue was published on March 19, 1937. The number of copies circulated at one point was up to 5,000 copies (the 6th issue alone was up to 7,000 copies). Nhanh Lua was published 9 issues before being suspended. The newspaper was edited in Hue, sent to print at the Dong Tay printing house (193 Hang Bong Street, Hanoi) by an official of the Northern Regional Party Committee. After printing, it was distributed immediately in Hanoi, shipped to other places in the country and to France. The 5th issue (published on February 12, 1937) was specially given away for free, with only 1 small page like a leaflet printed right in Hue. In terms of content, Nhanh Lua gathered progressive press forces into a united front; actively propagated and mobilized the movement to welcome Godart in Hue (French Special Envoy to investigate the situation in Indochina on February 26, 1937).
According to statistics, the newspaper published 9 issues, but there were 4 issues (3, 4, 5 and 8) with many articles about the movement to welcome Godart. Through that, on its forum, the newspaper continuously mobilized people to submit petitions and gather forces to welcome Godart. Nhanh Lua No. 8 reported that the welcoming of Godart attracted tens of thousands of participants. During the working session with Godart in Hue, there was an organizing committee including Phan Dang Luu, Nguyen Xuan Lu, Hai Trieu, Hai Thanh, Ton Quang Phiet, Lam Mong Quang, who were key journalists of Nhanh Lua , and 15 delegations (50 people). After the meeting (February 27, 1937), there was a 20-page petition sent to Godart about the general situation in Central Vietnam...
TO THE FIRST PRESS CONFERENCE IN THE COUNTRY
According to researcher Tran Nguyen Khanh Phong (Hue City Historical Science Association), the Nhanh Lua editorial office was also a place where communists operated, a red address of the Thua Thien Provincial Party Committee. This was where Hai Trieu, Nguyen Chi Dieu, Phan Dang Luu, Bui San, and Lam Mong Quang often came to work, secretly meet, exchange, orient propaganda, and nurture theories for patriotic youths, full of revolutionary enthusiasm, who were eager to find a way to fight against French colonialism and Nguyen feudalism. Among those patriotic youths were Nguyen Vinh, Hoang Anh, and To Huu.

Citing some related documents, Mr. Phong assessed that, in the face of the terrorist situation of the Protectorate and Southern Dynasties, Nhanh Lua maximized the power of the press agency, was a typical flag on the press front, was a sharp weapon of ideological struggle, clearly expressing the viewpoints of the communists in Hue and Central Vietnam. In just a short time, the newspaper gathered a powerful force, fanning the flames of revolutionary struggle in the period of 1936 - 1939 of the Indochina Democratic Front. This was also the first revolutionary newspaper published in Hue, in the true sense of the word, a newspaper with an editorial board consisting of former political prisoners under the direct direction of the Party organization.
After nine issues, Nganh Lua was suspended because it caused unrest among the French colonial government.

According to Mr. Phong, the Central Region Party Committee, sensitive to the new situation, used the Nhanh Lua newspaper to gather journalists in the region to announce the call: " We are honored and inform you that we are preparing a conference of the entire Central Region press to discuss our requests such as: Freedom of the press, establishment of a press union ". "Thus, also from Hue and from the Nhanh Lua newspaper, the Central Region press conference was opened, which was also the first press conference in the whole country. It was the result of a long process since the colonial press union was established in Saigon on September 8, 1917, but it was not until 1937 that an organization of progressive journalists fighting for freedom of speech was able to convene a press conference", Mr. Phong further analyzed.
After the Central Vietnam press conference held on March 27, 1937 at the Indochina Inn, No. 7 Dong Ba Street (with 70 attendees), the Northern Vietnam press conference on April 24, 1937 and the Southern Vietnam press conference on August 27, 1938 were convened in Saigon. Researcher Tran Nguyen Khanh Phong believes that the prestige of Hue journalists and press in the early 20th century was known to the press throughout the country, including journalist Hai Trieu. He was truly active, writing many articles calling for press solidarity and fighting for the people's rights. This is demonstrated through the examination of journalist Hai Trieu's articles, such as: A letter returned to the sender ( Nhanh Lua No. 1); Let's go and welcome Mr. Godart in large numbers ( Nhanh Lua No. 4); Report at the Central Vietnam press conference ( Kinh Te Tan Van No. 1)...
