Robert F. Kennedy Jr., nephew of the late US President John F. Kennedy, said he realized he was likely to be "assassinated by the CIA" if he became president.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr., 69, a Democratic presidential candidate, participated in a podcast hosted by Joe Rogan on June 15. He hypothesized that his uncle, the late US President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated by the CIA because of policies that went against the wishes of the intelligence community. Rogan asked Kennedy Jr. "what would happen if he won the 2024 election and took office."
"I have to be careful. I'm aware of the possibility of it happening. I'm aware of the danger. But I don't live in fear," Kennedy Jr. said. "I take steps to avoid it happening."
The CIA has not responded to Kennedy Jr.'s statement.

Mr. Kennedy Jr. is the son of former US Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and the younger brother of the late US President John F. Kennedy. Both brothers were assassinated.
John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States, was assassinated on the afternoon of November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, while riding in an open car with his wife. Former Marine Lee Harvey Oswald is believed to have used a sniper rifle to attack Kennedy. On November 24, 1963, Oswald was shot by nightclub owner Jack Ruby while being transferred from the city jail to the county jail.
The case still has many big questions such as whether Oswald acted alone or was there an organization behind it, leading to many hypotheses.
Robert F. Kennedy was shot by a Palestinian named Sirhan Sirhan at the Ambassador Hotel in California on June 5, 1968. Sirhan claimed that he hated Robert F. Kennedy because the former secretary of state had pro-Israel views. Sirhan is serving a life sentence.
Kennedy Jr. last month criticized the CIA for his uncle's assassination. He referred to the book JFK and the Unspeakable by James Douglas, which compiled evidence supporting the theory that the US government was involved in the assassination of the 35th president. The CIA has rejected the theory, calling it a lie.
Kennedy Jr. announced his candidacy in April, but did not receive support from his own family members. He has been criticized for his skepticism about the Covid-19 vaccine and for spreading conspiracy theories.
A CNN poll in May found that about 20% of Democratic voters supported Kennedy Jr. President Biden had the highest approval rating at about 60%. The lowest was writer Marianne Williamson at 8%.
