On June 8, the Da Nang City Border Guard Command announced that it had just arrested Hung "Xu", the suspected leader of a drug ring.
Previously, at around 4:30 p.m. on June 5, on Ha Huy Tap Street (Thanh Khe Dong Ward, Thanh Khe District), Phu Loc Border Guard Station (Da Nang City Border Guard Command) discovered two young men riding a motorbike with license plate 43C2-119.72 with many suspicious signs, so they checked.
At this time, Tran Luu Ngoc Man (living at 86 Han Mac Tu, Thuan Phuoc Ward) and Huynh Van Hung (both 29 years old, living at 91 3.2 Street, Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District) were identified as hiding a package of drugs.

Then, at around 5:30 p.m. the same day, on Huynh Ngoc Hue Street (Thanh Khe District), Phu Loc Border Guard continued to arrest Phan Trong Nhan (32 years old, residing at 183/6 Tran Xuan Le, Hoa Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District) who was riding a motorbike, carrying a package of drugs.
Expanding the investigation, all three suspects confessed to buying drugs from Nguyen Huy Hung (residing at 21 Phan Lang 2, Group 86, An Khe Ward, Thanh Khe District).
Through verification, the investigation force determined that Nguyen Huy Hung was Hung "Xu", who had a previous conviction for illegal drug trafficking. During an urgent search of Hung's house, the functional force discovered 15 packages of drugs with about 20 grams, 1 small scale, and 1 set of drug use tools.

According to the records, Hung is from Thanh An village, Lang Dai commune, Dat Do district (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), his parents have settled abroad. Hung has a long history of drug addiction, has a wife and 2 children in Ba Ria - Vung Tau. After the divorce, Hung moved to Da Nang city to live with his sister and her husband in An Khe ward.
In 2015, Hung was arrested by Cam Le District Police (Da Nang City) and later sentenced to prison for illegal drug trafficking. Just released from prison, Hung continued to rebuild his drug ring. Hung chose hotels and motels as locations for drug transactions, frequently changing his location of operations to avoid detection.
