On March 21, in Dong Hoi city (Quang Binh province), the Vietnam Border Guard Command coordinated with the Lao Border Guard Command to organize a seminar and exchange between young officers of the Vietnam - Laos Border Guard with the theme "Strengthening cooperation to build a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developed border".
The seminar is an activity within the 4th Vietnam - Laos Border Guard Young Officer Exchange Program taking place from March 20-24 in Quang Binh province.
Presenting their speeches at the seminar, young officers of the Border Guards of the two countries affirmed that in recent times, the coordination of activities between the two sides has achieved many encouraging results. Notably, young officers of the two countries regularly coordinate closely, grasp the situation, and increase information exchange on political security and social order and safety in the border area.

At the same time, coordinate and maintain strict and strict implementation of the Agreement on Border Management Regulations and Land Border Gate Management between the Government of Vietnam and the Government of Laos. From 2024 to present, the two sides have conducted 227 bilateral patrols, controlling 681,332 people and 336,688 vehicles crossing the border.
The young officers of the Border Guard of the two countries also strengthened coordination in managing and protecting the border, ensuring political security, order and social safety in the border areas; actively participated in the movement to denounce crimes, protect and maintain political security, order and social safety on both sides of the border. The young officers of the two countries successfully coordinated to fight 44 special cases, arrested 123 subjects, and seized a large quantity of drugs, weapons and explosives.
Delegates from both sides affirmed that, in recent times, the young Vietnamese and Lao officers have promoted their pioneering, creative and enthusiastic role of youth; have a high spirit of determination, a strong will to rise up, and have made important contributions to the successful implementation of the political tasks of the two countries, building a peaceful, friendly, cooperative and developing Vietnam - Laos border.
In addition, representatives of both sides also shared experiences and good practices to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation in border protection.

Speaking at the seminar, Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Chief of Political Affairs of the Vietnam Border Guard, highly appreciated the contributions of young officers from both countries. He emphasized the pioneering and creative role of youth in maintaining peace, friendship and protecting the border. The young officers are the generation that inherits the revolutionary cause of the two countries' armed forces, playing an important role in preserving, nurturing and developing the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Laos.
"The seminar was organized to demonstrate the concern and trust of the leaders of the two forces for the young generation; create opportunities for the young generation of the two forces to meet, exchange and share experiences; at the same time, review the glorious, heroic, loyal and devoted tradition of the Vietnam - Laos relationship," said Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai.
Colonel Nguyen Thanh Hai said that in the coming time, young officers need to strengthen their understanding of the policies of the two countries' leaders; share experiences, and closely coordinate in exchange activities, patrols, and crime prevention. In addition, young officers from both sides need to continue to advise on organizing visits, cultural and sports exchanges, and strengthen twinning of border posts and stations; and promptly combat and prevent hostile forces from exploiting ethnic and religious issues to sabotage the relationship between the two countries.
