The work of joining hands and contributing to help the poor in recent times has always been actively responded to by the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front, organizations and the majority of people in Viet Tri city. Practical activities to care for the lives of the poor in the city have created a spread and multiplied spirit of "mutual love" in society, helping the poor and people in difficult circumstances to rise up and stabilize their lives.
Handing over the solidarity house to Ms. Vu Thi Hien's family in Zone 2, Kim Duc Commune, Viet Tri City.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Hoa Mai - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Viet Tri city said: Identifying the work of caring for and supporting the poor in particular and social security activities in general as one of the important tasks in the work, the city Fatherland Front always proactively builds plans, programs and ways to mobilize to build and supplement the "For the Poor" Fund; mobilize social resources to support the construction of solidarity houses for poor households facing housing difficulties; coordinate to support livelihoods, households with sudden difficulties... receiving positive responses from agencies, units, businesses, and people of all walks of life...
Since the beginning of 2024, the City Fatherland Front and its member organizations have mobilized over 5.4 billion VND for the "For the Poor" Fund and the social security program. From this fund, the City Fatherland Front has organized visits and presented 2,757 Tet gifts, worth over 2.5 billion VND; coordinated with the City Housing Review Steering Committee to support the construction and handover of 31 solidarity houses, shelters of love, camaraderie, kindness, and humanity with a total amount of over 2.3 billion VND; organized medical examinations and treatment, provided free medicine, and supported economic development for over 2,300 poor, near-poor, and extremely disadvantaged households, and policy families, worth over 600 million VND.
In particular, the Standing Committee of the City Fatherland Front has completed the Relief Mobilization Committee and guided the grassroots to establish a Mobilization Committee, receive, distribute and use voluntary contributions to support people to overcome difficulties caused by natural disasters, epidemics, and incidents; support patients with serious illnesses. By the end of October 2024, the City Fatherland Front had received over 3.7 billion VND, coordinated with the City People's Committee to visit and encourage support for 2 families with missing relatives in the collapse of Phong Chau bridge, worth 70 million VND. Thereby, creating motivation and bringing confidence for the poor to rise up in life, contributing to reducing the poverty rate of the whole city to 0.49%.
Ms. Hien's family in Zone 2, Kim Duc Commune is a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances. Ms. Hien herself does not have a stable job, her husband died in a traffic accident, and she has to raise 3 young children of school age. In May 2024, the City's "For the Poor" Fund Mobilization Committee mobilized agencies and units to support the construction of a house for Ms. Hien's family with an area of 96 square meters, total value of 195 million VND. Ms. Hien shared: "Previously, my family lived in a dilapidated house, the walls were cracked, and could collapse at any time, making the family always worried and insecure. Thanks to the help of the Fatherland Front at all levels and local authorities, my family was able to build a house, I am very happy, this year my family can celebrate Tet in a new house...".
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hanh's family is also a poor household with extremely difficult circumstances in Zone 1, Thanh Dinh Commune. Ms. Hanh is limited in her ability to work. In 2023, her family was approved for support to build a solidarity house. After more than 1 month of construction, the house was completed with a total cost of over 200 million VND. Ms. Hanh was also given a breeding cow worth 15 million VND by the city's Fatherland Front to support a long-term livelihood source. Up to now, the cow has grown and developed well.
It can be seen that the work of caring for the lives of the poor and those in difficult circumstances of the Fatherland Front at all levels in Viet Tri city has been constantly innovated in content, improved in quality, and has proactively coordinated and implemented well the campaigns, creating a widespread movement with spreading power, contributing to raising awareness of all levels and sectors in joining hands and contributing to caring for the poor, and implementing well the social security program.
