At the construction site of Ben Rung bridge approach road on the Quang Ninh side in early July 2024, the contractor is rushing to complete the final items to soon bring the third bridge connecting Hai Phong - Quang Ninh after Da Bac bridge and Bach Dang bridge.
The Ben Rung Bridge construction investment project across Da Bac River connecting Thuy Nguyen District, Hai Phong City with Quang Yen Town, Quang Ninh Province, has a total investment capital of more than 1,940 billion VND from the Central budget, Hai Phong City budget and Quang Ninh Province budget. Of which, the Central budget is more than 1,100 billion VND, Hai Phong budget is more than 835 billion VND and Quang Ninh Province budget is 5.5 billion VND.

Ben Rung Bridge was invested in and built to contribute to expanding development space to serve socio-economic development, promoting solidarity and close relationship between people of the two localities of Hai Phong - Quang Ninh (Photo: Thai Phan).
To facilitate people and trade activities between the two localities, Quang Ninh province decided to invest nearly 360 billion VND (after adjustment) from the budget to implement the 2.2km long access road project, the starting point connecting with Ben Rung bridge, the end point connecting with the intersection of Provincial Road 338, through Song Khoai commune, Quang Yen town.
The Ben Rung Bridge project officially started on May 13, 2022, on the occasion of the 67th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day. According to the plan, the project will be completed after 24 months on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of Hai Phong Liberation Day (May 13, 2024).
By early May 2024, the entire bridge body and approach road on the Hai Phong side were basically completed. However, because the approach road project on the Quang Ninh side was not completed, the time to put the bridge into operation and exploitation was continuously pushed back. From mid-May 2024 to June 2024.
According to Mr. Tran Duc Thang - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province, the cause stems from weather conditions (prolonged heavy rain), lack of filling materials, and difficulties in site clearance.
Due to continuous difficulties, at one point, the investor's representative, the Quang Ninh Province Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, estimated that the access road would not be completed until the end of 2024.

Faced with this situation, in order not to let the people of the two localities wait impatiently, the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province directed the representative of the investor to urge the contractor to speed up the construction progress. At the same time, focus on supporting and helping to remove difficulties and obstacles.
Thanks to that, by early July 2024, the main items of the Ben Rung bridge approach road project on the Quang Ninh side were basically completed. According to Nguoi Dua Tin , the contractor is urgently completing the final items, such as spreading asphalt on the road surface, cleaning, painting road markings, etc.
According to information from the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, the access road will be completed in July 2024. On this basis, the two localities will hold an official opening ceremony to put Ben Rung bridge into operation. Thereby, shortening the road connecting Thuy Nguyen district, Hai Phong city with Quang Yen town, Quang Ninh province .
