Man prosecuted for helping friend put away styrofoam box

(Dan Tri) - Le Duy Sang received a styrofoam box containing more than 18kg of firecrackers sent by a friend in Binh Duong via shipper and brought it home to hide.

On the morning of January 18, the People's Procuracy of Huong Son district (Ha Tinh province) approved the decision to prosecute and temporarily detain Nguyen Dinh Chieu (born in 1991, residing in Son Trung commune, Huong Son district) for 2 months on charges of possessing prohibited goods.

According to the investigation agency, Nguyen Dinh Chieu has a friendship with a man named Phi, who is living in Binh Duong province.

On January 8, Phi sent Chieu a styrofoam box via delivery service containing 9 blocks of 49-round fireworks and 7 plastic bags containing firecrackers, asking Chieu to keep them for him.

After receiving the package, Chieu contacted Phi to ask for 4 blocks of fireworks to use during the 2025 Lunar New Year. Chieu put these 4 blocks of fireworks in the wardrobe in the bedroom, the remaining contraband was kept in a styrofoam box and hidden in the kitchen area.

At around 8:00 p.m. the same day, the Investigation Police Agency of Huong Son District Police searched Chieu's house and seized all the fireworks with a total weight of more than 18 kg.

Previously, Nguyen Dinh Chieu was also prosecuted for Gambling.
