The hypothetical situation presented at the joint exercise was that while patrolling and performing tasks at sea, two Vietnamese and Indonesian Coast Guard ships received an SOS signal from a ship on fire.
After that, CSB 8001 and KN. Pulau Dana – 323 quickly determined the coordinates, communicated with each other via a common frequency system, urgently accelerated to the scene to approach the distressed ship, and coordinated to spray water cannons to extinguish the fire.

After the fire extinguishing mission had just ended, two ships discovered a victim who had fallen into the sea. The ships quickly determined the coordinates and urgently deployed a speedboat to approach the victim. Next, officers and soldiers brought the victim onto the ship to perform first aid to stabilize his health.

According to Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh - Deputy Commander, Chief of Staff of Coast Guard Region 3, this is a practical activity for the two countries' forces to exchange and learn from each other about the ability to handle situations of the ship's staff and the actions of sailors in search and rescue, and fire prevention and fighting at sea.
“This is also an opportunity for officers and soldiers of the two countries to gain more experience in ensuring security, safety, and responding to incidents at sea; train officers and soldiers to be proactive, creative, capable of action, brave, and improve their organizational and command capacity in performing assigned tasks,” said Colonel Nguyen Minh Khanh.
According to the Command of Coast Guard Region 3, the joint training at sea between the Coast Guard forces of Vietnam and Indonesia also has great significance, contributing to the realization of the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Coast Guard forces of the two countries signed in 2021.
Thereby, continuing to strengthen the solidarity, traditional friendship, and strategic partnership between the two nations and forces towards the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2025.
