High School Graduation Exam 2025: There are up to 48 exam codes, with separate exam scores for independent candidates

Reduce one exam session, double the exam code

The information was stated by Mr. Huynh Van Chuong - Director of the Department of Quality Management, Ministry of Education and Training (MOET), at the training conference on Regulations and procedures for organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam in Ho Chi Minh City on the morning of April 3.

According to Mr. Chuong, this year's high school graduation exam will be held on June 26-27, for students following the 2018 General Education Program and students following the 2006 General Education Program.

For students taking the exam under the 2006 General Education Program, the Departments of Education and Training must organize a number of separate exam sites. The organization model, organization method, and exam subjects will remain stable as in 2024.

“If there is only one candidate, the locality must also organize a separate testing site. The remaining sites are reserved for students taking the 2018 General Education Program,” said Mr. Chuong.

In addition, Mr. Chuong also announced many new points for candidates taking the high school graduation exam according to the 2018 General Education Program.

Accordingly, candidates will take 2 compulsory subjects: Literature, Mathematics and 2 elective subjects from the subjects they have studied. Instead of taking 4 exams like every year, students will only take 3 exams. This year's high school graduation exam will have 48 exam codes, including 24 exam codes for session 1 and 24 exam codes for session 2, double the number of previous years.

The exam is designed to assess competency, with new subjects according to the 2018 General Education Program. Literature can use materials other than textbooks. For the Geography exam, candidates will no longer be able to use Atlases as in previous years.

In addition, this year there will also be changes in certificates and incentive points for Foreign Languages, Vietnamese, and vocational certificates. Candidates with foreign language certificates are exempted from the foreign language exam, and foreigners with Vietnamese certificates are exempted from the Literature exam. However, it will not be converted into a score of 10 in the consideration of high school graduation recognition, only the number of exams will be reduced with the requirement that the certificate must be valid until June 25, 2025.

A candidate will sit in a fixed exam room.

From April 21-28, candidates will start registering for the high school graduation exam. Before that, they will have 4 days to register for a trial exam.

Mr. Chuong noted that candidates should use the identification code information on VNEID to register online at high school, without having to provide additional documents. Children of war invalids and martyrs must have additional evidence to get priority points.

Regarding the arrangement of examination rooms, the Director of the Department of Quality Management added that a candidate will sit in a fixed examination room for 3 sessions. An examination room can have up to 5 subjects. Because candidates register for many different subject combinations, the number of examination rooms will increase compared to before. "The Ministry of Education and Training has organized a pilot on this issue and has achieved positive results," said Mr. Chuong.

Printing and copying of exam papers will be done according to each general education program, not at the same time to avoid confusion.

This exam increased the use of process assessment results in considering high school graduation recognition (from 30% to 50%). The exam invigilation and grading process was adjusted to ensure compliance with the exam organization plan, while overcoming previous limitations and shortcomings to create more convenience for units in the organization and implementation process.
