On January 23, news from the Office of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province, the Chairman of the People's Committee of this province has just issued an official dispatch requesting departments, branches, sectors; the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organizations; the People's Procuracy, the People's Court of the province and the People's Committees of localities in the province to strengthen the management and use of weapons, explosives and support tools.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province requested localities to urgently review and inspect scrap collection points in the area, promptly detect and strictly handle cases of illegal storage of scrap, waste products, accessories of weapons, explosives, support tools, bombs, mines...
Explosives and supporting tools recovered by Ca Mau Provincial Police
Require 100% of facility owners to sign a commitment not to illegally buy, sell, exchange, transport, or store scrap, waste, accessories of military weapons, explosives, support tools, bombs, mines, etc. At the same time, they must immediately notify the nearest police or military agency when discovering weapons, explosives, support tools, bombs, mines, etc.
The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province also directed the Provincial Military Command to proactively coordinate with localities to review each area, carry out professional measures to review places identified as having a risk of remaining bombs and mines left over from the war; collect and handle them according to regulations (if any). The Provincial Police shall preside over and coordinate with relevant agencies, units and localities to strengthen measures to strictly manage weapons, explosives and supporting tools in the area; promptly and strictly handle cases of violations of regulations on management and use of weapons, explosives and supporting tools.
The Provincial Border Guard Command directs to strengthen patrols and control of fishing vessels and boats, promptly detect suspected cases of storing and transporting weapons, explosives, support tools; waste products, accessories of weapons, explosives, support tools; bombs, mines... into the province, coordinate with relevant agencies and units to collect and handle according to regulations (if any).
Previously, at around 9:30 a.m. on January 17, on Cua Lon River (Tan An Tay Commune, Ngoc Hien District, Ca Mau), a large explosion suspected to be a bomb explosion occurred, leaving 3 people missing, including: Mr. NNT (42 years old), TVN and NCH (both residing in Sa Pho Hamlet, Nam Can District, Ca Mau).
Mr. NNT's neighbor said that he had discovered a bomb and sawed it and sold it for 80 million VND. After that, Mr. T. continued to discover another bomb, intending to sell it as scrap but was priced at 10 million VND. Believing that the scrap buyer was "squeezing the price", Mr. T. invited TVN and NCH to take the bomb to the bank of Cua Lon River (a section belonging to Ong Quyen Hamlet, Tan An Tay Commune, Ngoc Hien District) to saw it to sell it for a higher price, then the explosion occurred. Up to now, 2 victims' bodies have been found, NCH and TVN.
