On September 29, 2024, the Vietnam Fruit Festival officially opened at the Xinfadi Agricultural Products Distribution Center in Beijing, in a vibrant atmosphere celebrating the 75th anniversary of the National Day of China. This is an important event, gathering many Vietnamese agricultural product exporting enterprises, aiming to introduce unique tropical fruits to the Chinese market. The festival is not only an opportunity to promote products but also demonstrates the long-standing and growing cooperative relationship between the two countries.
At the event, Mr. Truong Nguyet Lam - General Director of Tan Phat Dia Center, sent his warmest congratulations to the Organizing Committee of the Vietnam Fruit Festival. He expressed his respect for Vietnamese enterprises who did not hesitate to travel thousands of kilometers to be present in Beijing and join in the festival atmosphere. In his speech, he emphasized the deep and lasting friendship between China and Vietnam, which is likened to "mountains connected to mountains, rivers connected to rivers". The relationship between the two countries has gone through many ups and downs in history, but has always maintained a special connection in the fields of economics, politics and culture.

Mr. Zhang Yuelin also mentioned Vietnam's Commercial Counselor, Mr. Nong Delai, a familiar figure at major agricultural events in China. Mr. Lai attended the first Agricultural Expo in Xinfadi and was invited to participate in the second event scheduled to take place later this year.
With its favorable geographical location and ecological diversity, Vietnam has become one of China’s leading partners in the field of agricultural exports, especially tropical fruits. Outstanding products such as dragon fruit, bananas, mangoes and watermelons from Vietnam have met the increasing demand of Chinese consumers. In addition, Vietnam is also famous for its rich and long-standing culture, which has contributed significantly to the connection between the two peoples.
According to the representative of Xinfadi Center, Beijing is currently one of the largest agricultural consumption markets in the region, with a population of more than 30 million people. The demand for high-quality agricultural products in the capital is very large, but the city's agricultural self-sufficiency rate is very low, with most of them having to be imported from other provinces and neighboring countries. Xinfadi Center plays an important role in providing up to 90% of the city's fruits and vegetables, with a total agricultural product transaction volume of up to 15.16 million tons in 2023, equivalent to a value of 126.7 billion yuan.
As China promotes its agricultural internationalization strategy, Xinfadi has been expanding its cooperation with Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines and Malaysia. Among them, Vietnam is considered one of the important partners with hundreds of thousands of hectares of tropical fruit cultivation areas. Its main agricultural products include dragon fruit, banana, mango, watermelon and purple sweet potato. In the future, Xinfadi also plans to expand its cooperation with Vietnam in developing other fruits such as durian, jackfruit, longan, passion fruit and mangosteen, to meet the increasingly diverse needs of Chinese consumers.
The Vietnam Fruit Festival is not only a place to display and introduce unique agricultural products, but also an opportunity for agricultural enterprises of the two countries to exchange and seek new cooperation opportunities. Representatives of many Vietnamese enterprises were present in Beijing to introduce high-quality products, aiming to expand their market share in the Chinese market.
Strengthening cooperation in the agricultural sector between Vietnam and China will bring many benefits to both countries. The representative of Tan Phat Dia Center expressed the hope that the Vietnam Fruit Festival will not only be a simple trade promotion event but also an important stepping stone to expand cooperation and promote the development of agriculture in the two countries.
"Vietnam and China are two neighboring countries with a long-standing friendly relationship. Cooperation in the agricultural sector between the two countries is growing stronger and stronger. We are committed to continuing to promote cooperation in various fields, especially in exporting fruits and agricultural products from Vietnam to China" - Mr. Truong Nguyet Lam shared more about the strong cooperative relationship between Vietnam and China.
In addition, the festival also marks a new step in implementing the “Belt and Road Initiative”, through promoting cooperation in the field of cultivation and agricultural supply. In particular, expanding cultivation bases in Southeast Asian countries, including Vietnam, will contribute to creating a stable and high-quality agricultural supply for the Beijing market, while enhancing the value of Vietnamese agricultural products in the international market.
At the end of the ceremony, Tan Phat Dia representative thanked Vietnamese partners and expressed his wish to continue to see more Vietnamese agricultural products appear in the daily meals of Chinese people. He hoped that the cooperation between the two countries will continue to develop, opening up many new opportunities for the Vietnamese agricultural industry in the near future.
The Vietnam Fruit Festival in Tan Phat Dia is not only a cultural event but also an economic breakthrough, creating a premise for sustainable trade cooperation between Vietnam and China, especially in the field of agricultural products.
