Over the past 35 years, the culture, sports and tourism sector of Quang Tri has seriously implemented the policies and directions of superiors, proactively deployed many effective plans and solutions in performing assigned tasks; the staff, civil servants, public employees and workers of the whole sector have always upheld the spirit of solidarity, dynamism, creativity and dedication in their work; along with the active participation of all classes of people, the cultural cause has achieved many impressive results. Thereby, contributing significantly to the socio-economic development of the province, improving the spiritual life of the people, spreading the beautiful image of the land and people of Quang Tri to domestic and international friends.

Diverse and rich cultural activities

Over the past years, Quang Tri Culture, Sports and Tourism has implemented cultural policies and guidelines originating from the people's foundation, taking the people as the root, allowing people to enjoy the creative achievements with the goal of improving the cultural and spiritual life of the people.

Cultural activities and events are organized in a diverse and rich manner in many forms in accordance with customs and social practices. In particular, in the past 10 years, the province has successfully organized many major festivals and celebrations such as: National Reunification Festival; commemorating the birthday of General Secretary Le Duan; commemorating the 45th anniversary of Cuban President Fidel Castro's visit to the liberated area of ​​Quang Tri province; commemorating the 50th anniversary of Quang Tri province's Liberation Day...

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism also enhances cultural exchange and integration activities to promote and introduce the land and people of Quang Tri to domestic and international friends through cultural activities, art performances, film festivals, top-notch sports competitions and tourism promotion, advertising and investment.

The province carries out cooperation in developing culture, tourism, information and communication with Savannakhet province (Laos), Mukdahan province (Thailand) and provinces on the East-West Economic Corridor; organizes propaganda activities to serve important political and social events of the province, the country and other foreign events.

The province's art troupes have participated in performances in several countries such as Thailand, Laos... Through this, they aim to exchange and promote cultural products and traditional cultural values ​​of the province, while selectively absorbing the cultural quintessence of ethnic groups.

Many impressive achievements

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Van Hoan said that the drastic participation of Party committees at all levels has created positive changes in the awareness of cadres, Party members and people of all walks of life, receiving the consensus and joint efforts of society, creating breakthroughs in the cultural field.

By August 31, 2023, Quang Tri province had 95% of families recognized as cultural families; 96.8% of villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods meeting cultural standards; 98/125 communes, wards, and towns had standard cultural - sports centers; 772/800 villages, hamlets, and neighborhoods had cultural houses - sports areas...

The activities to celebrate major holidays were successfully organized, achieving the set goals and requirements, creating a deep impression in the hearts of the people and friends at home and abroad. Those achievements were recognized and highly appreciated by the leaders of the Party, State, leaders of ministries, departments, central branches, provinces, cities, and the people, domestic and international tourists, thereby contributing to promoting the image and enhancing the position of Quang Tri province.

In addition, the good implementation of the work of preserving and organizing many festivals and cultural and sports activities in accordance with the civilized lifestyle, cultural traditions of the nation and good customs and practices of each locality has created a colorful picture in the spiritual life of the people.

In the work of preserving and promoting intangible cultural heritage values, the Provincial People's Committee has prepared a national dossier on "The Art of Bài Chòi in Central Vietnam" to submit to UNESCO for recognition as a representative intangible cultural heritage of humanity and was recognized by UNESCO in 2017; the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism recognized the Arieuping festival of the Van Kieu and Pa Ko ethnic groups as a national intangible cultural heritage.

Conduct surveys and inventory hundreds of intangible cultural heritages in the province. Collection of artifacts, images, historical documents and exhibitions are regularly carried out by the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism. Up to now, Quang Tri has 4 national treasures recognized by the Prime Minister, 33,000 original documents and artifacts are being stored in the museum.

The work of honoring artisans and conferring artist titles, encouraging artists with many contributions has received attention. Through the awarding rounds, the whole province currently has 27 artisans who have been awarded and posthumously awarded the noble title of "Meritorious Artisan" by the President; 1 Ho Chi Minh Prize, 4 State Prizes for Literature and Arts; 2 People's Artists and 9 Meritorious Artists.

Many exhibitions of paintings, sculptures, and art photos were held on the occasion of important political events of the country and the province. Successfully organized the Literary and Artistic Creation Contest with the theme "Quang Tri - 50 years of construction, innovation and development" (1972-2022); coordinated with the Department of Exhibitions, Fine Arts, and Photography to successfully organize the 27th Regional Fine Arts Exhibition IV (North Central) with the participation of 150 authors and more than 150 works; successfully organized the 29th North Central Regional Art Photography Festival in August 2023...

The literary and artistic activities of the artists took place vigorously in both breadth and depth, achieving encouraging results such as: State Prize for Literature and Arts, Vietnam Musicians Association Prize. Many authors with literary and artistic works on the theme of "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", the theme of revolutionary war, the theme of the land and people of Quang Tri left a strong mark in the flow of literature and art of the country.

In particular, in the first 6 months of 2024, with the attention and support of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Quang Tri province hosted and coordinated to organize many sports tournaments attracting a large number of athletes and fans from all over the country to compete and cheer, meeting the needs of Quang Tri people to enjoy high-performance sports.

In particular, the province organizes the 2024 Peace Festival to promote and introduce the image and people of Quang Tri to international friends, honoring the values ​​of peace. Thereby, arousing the spirit, encouraging cadres, party members and people to actively compete in labor production and study to build the province more and more civilized and beautiful.
