Bich Thuy impressed in GS Caltex shirt. |
Bich Thuy is the only Vietnamese female professional volleyball player playing abroad this season. Joining GS Caltex Seoul Kixx on a short-term contract, she quickly asserted her worth, helping the Korean team turn things around dramatically.
Before Bich Thuy joined, GS Caltex was in crisis, winning only 1 match and ranked at the bottom of the table. However, since she joined, the team has had a series of sublimation matches, winning 11 consecutive matches within 10 weeks, ending the season with 12 wins and 39 points. Although they could not enter the championship group, this impressive performance was an unexpected success for the club.
Bich Thuy is not only an important link in GS Caltex's playing style but also one of the most stable hitters on the team. She has been in the top 5 scorers of the club many times, only having one match where she did not score due to receiving few passes.
In particular, the Vietnamese midfielder was twice voted into the best team of the round, something that not every foreign player can do in such a short time.
In the final match of the season yesterday, Bich Thuy continued to leave her mark when she scored the decisive point to help GS Caltex win set 1 against the top team Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders. She contributed greatly to the home team's 3-0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-21) overall victory, ending the journey in Korea in a complete and memorable way.
Today (March 21), Bich Thuy will return home, joining Duc Giang Chemical Club to participate in the first phase of the 2025 Vietnam National Volleyball Championship, taking place in Dong Anh (Hanoi). With extensive international competition experience and stable performance, she promises to continue to shine in the colors of her home club.
Bich Thuy is not a strange name in the Vietnamese volleyball world. Since 2018, when she was only 18 years old, she went abroad to play for the Air Force Club (Thailand) and won the title of "Best Middle Blocker of Thai League 2018/2019". She also ranked second in the list of best blockers, just behind Thai volleyball legend Pleumjit Thinkaow.
After her great success in Korea, Bich Thuy is expected to continue to be called up to the Vietnam volleyball team in the upcoming training session on April 15. This will be a quality addition to the national team before the upcoming important tournaments.
