(Fatherland) - On March 17, the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) sent Official Dispatch No. 226/DSVH-DT to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen requesting an inspection and measures to handle the demolition of the gate to the national relic of Duom Temple.


Accordingly, the document stated that the Department of Cultural Heritage received information about the demolition of the gate of the national relic of Duom Temple, Phu Luong District, Thai Nguyen Province.

Regarding this matter, the Department of Cultural Heritage requests the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province to coordinate with local authorities to urgently inspect and take measures to handle the matter; report the inspection results and solutions to the People's Committee of Thai Nguyen province and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism before March 20, 2025.

Duom Temple gate demolished

Strengthen the management of preservation, restoration and rehabilitation activities of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots in Thai Nguyen province; strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 1083/BVHTTDL-DSVH dated March 31, 2022 of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on strengthening the management of preservation, restoration and rehabilitation activities of historical - cultural relics and scenic spots.

According to documents on the national relic, Duom Temple (Dong Dat Commune, Phu Luong District) was built around the 12th century (1180), and is a place to worship the famous general Duong Tu Minh, a talented general under the Ly Dynasty, who had great merit in keeping the northern border of Dai Viet peaceful in the 12th century. With his outstanding talent, he was appointed by the Ly Dynasty kings as the leader of Phu Luong Palace, leading the people to build a prosperous and prosperous territory.

Informing the press, Mr. Nguyen Van Ngoc, Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Thai Nguyen province emphasized: Duom Temple is a historical relic with cultural and spiritual significance of Thai Nguyen province. Through the ups and downs of history, it has been renovated many times by the people themselves, the designs of the relic are not suitable, not true to the architecture and landscape of the Ly Dynasty.

The items of the Duom Temple relic have been degraded for many years. For the past two years, performing the functions and tasks of a specialized agency advising on state management of heritage, based on current regulations, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in coordination with the People's Committee of Phu Luong district has invited consultants, historians, and scientists to conduct research, field surveys, discuss restoration and repair plans, and have a general design for restoration and embellishment of the historical relic and landscape of Duom Temple.

Duom Temple before

According to Mr. Ngoc, based on the survey results, assessment of the current status, relics, and implementation plan of the Project: Restoration and embellishment of the historical relic and scenic spot of Duom Temple, Dong Dat Commune, Phu Luong District, Thai Nguyen Province, including the items of Thuong Temple, Trung Temple; Dien Binh Palace and Thieu Dung Palace, Nieng Temple; Bell Tower, Drum Tower: Restoration and reinforcement of the temple in accordance with the scale and general landscape of the Duom Temple and Tam Quan relic complex.

The Tam Quan gate was renovated and embellished with 1 main entrance and 2 side entrances. The main entrance in the middle has a 2-storey, 8-roofed gate architecture, with curved corners. The roof is covered with fish-tail tiles. The two side entrances are smaller than the arched gate architecture, with seals on the walls. The outermost is arranged with square pillars, the base of the pillars is narrow, the top of the pillars is decorated with four phoenixes; The Tam Quan foundation includes a system of reinforced concrete pillars and beams, combined with solid brick construction.

The estimated cost of implementing the Project is about 22 billion VND from socialized capital (funded by construction)./.
