After more than 10 years of living in Ho Chi Minh City, Nguyen Anh Tuan (born in 1995) and Vo Thi Thuy An (born in 1996), living in Ward 1, Tan An City , Long An Province, decided to leave their bustling urban life behind to start a business in their hometown . Their journey is not only a story about a small bakery but also a lesson about determination and passion.

Before deciding to return to Tan An City, Mr. Tuan and his wife had worked many jobs in Ho Chi Minh City, from lodging business to trading, decorating, designing, etc. However, the expensive, bustling and stressful life made them no longer "interested" in the city. They chose to return to their hometown to start over with a capital of 70 million VND.

“We found a location, decorated the shop, bought ingredients and started a new journey with the business of making and selling cakes and drinks. Before, my wife and I never intended to start a business in this field, but thanks to relatives who work in this field, we started to learn and gradually became passionate about it,” Tuan shared.

The bakery of Mr. Tuan and his wife is located on a small corner of Thu Khoa Huan Street, Ward 1, Tan An City. The shop currently offers more than 8 different types of cakes, from sweet bread, sponge cake, cream cake, cookie to cheese cashew,... In addition, the shop also serves many types of drinks, of which the most prominent is the Matcha Latte, which is loved by many customers.

“To make a batch of delicious cakes, we had to go through many failures, sometimes 4-5 consecutive batches were ruined. After 2 months of starting the business, I gained 3kg just from eating leftover and spoiled cakes,” Ms. An shared with a smile.

One of the shop’s signature products is cookies. To achieve the perfect taste and crunchiness, Ms. An chose pure chocolate, even though it costs more than regular chocolate. In addition, other ingredients such as milk are imported directly from dairy farms and processed by hand to ensure quality. In addition to traditional cakes, the shop also produces cakes for diabetics, aiming for diversity and ensuring the health of diners.

The main customers of the restaurant are students and young people. Thanks to the quality of the products and dedicated service, about 70% of customers return. Many people after enjoying the experience have introduced their friends to come and experience it.

However, according to Mr. Tuan, the snack market in Tan An is quite narrow but the level of competition is high. “Starting a business is not difficult, the difficulty is changing your mindset. If you are persistent and determined, you will definitely have a stable number of customers,” Mr. Tuan emphasized.

Ms. An also believes that the biggest obstacle for many young people when starting a business is not capital or experience, but fear of public opinion. “Many young people are hesitant and afraid of being judged. But the most important thing is that you know what you are doing. When you are young, just try it, otherwise you will regret it later,” Ms. An confided.

After 3 months of starting the business, despite many difficulties, Mr. Tuan and his wife had a stable number of customers and an income enough to cover their living expenses. Initially, there were days when the revenue was only over 100,000 VND, but thanks to perseverance and quality improvement, the business situation gradually improved.

In the near future, the couple plans to expand their business model by supplying coffee shops, retail outlets and promoting business through e-commerce platforms. “As long as we do our job well, everything will get better,” said Mr. Tuan optimistically.

The story of this 9X couple is not only a journey of entrepreneurship but also an inspiration for those who are cherishing the dream of "leaving the city to return to the countryside" to find a new direction for themselves./.
