The USD price in banks unexpectedly recorded a weekly decrease. Similarly, the free USD price also decreased by 40 - 50 VND after a week when buying at 26,000 VND and selling at 26,120 VND...

In contrast to the USD, the euro price continued to increase during the week. For example, Vietcombank bought euro by transfer at VND28,513 and sold at VND29,775, an increase of VND640-670 after a week. The Japanese yen also increased when Vietcombank bought at VND174.18 and sold at VND183.4, an increase of nearly VND3. Notably, the Chinese yuan has fallen sharply against the USD during the week.

World USD price drops sharply while Japanese Yen and Euro rise

The latest report from UOB Bank stated that pressure from the exchange rate market and weak export activities could force the State Bank to loosen monetary policy if economic conditions continue to deteriorate. At the same time, the bank forecasts that the VND will continue to weaken, with a new updated forecast of the USD/VND exchange rate at VND26,500/USD in Q2/2025 and reaching a peak of VND27,200/USD in Q3/2025.

The world USD price plunged to 99.78 points this week - the lowest level since April 2022. After only one week, the USD-Index has dropped more than 3 points. The USD has fallen to its lowest level in three years against the euro, reflecting growing market concerns over President Donald Trump's tariff policies. According to some analysts, the unexpected and unpredictable trade policies have created a big shock to the global market. Some experts believe that the USD sell-off may only be temporary. However, even in the short term, the weakening of the USD is still bad news for investors and can lead to higher interest rates, putting pressure on bonds and stocks./.
