On the afternoon of November 9, the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) provided further information and explanation about the change in the subject combination for university entrance exams in 2025.

Previously, on the evening of November 8, the University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University) announced its enrollment plan for 2025. The notable new point is that the school uses 4 groups of subjects for admission that apply to all majors/specializations, all admission methods, including: math - English - literature, math - English - physics, math - English - information technology, math - English - economic and legal education.
Thus, compared to before, in 2025 the school plans to remove the two combinations of math - physics - chemistry (A00) and math - English - chemistry (D07), replacing them with a new combination including: math - English - information technology; math - English - economic and legal education.
In the 2 new groups, the school uses 2 new subjects of the 2018 General Education program: information technology, economic education and law.
Right after Tuoi Tre Online reported on this, many candidates and parents were worried. "If we change the combination at this time, what should students studying A00 and D07 do? We have already looked at the school's combination and chosen subjects since the end of the previous school year, and now it's changed, who can change it?", readers like Nhu Y wondered.
Candidate Tra Tac confided: "I remember last year's admission method of the school included the D07 combination. This year, removing that combination, our block is at a disadvantage. Almost only the ability assessment test can get in. I hope the school will reconsider the combination."
The school will consider adding the combination.
MSc. Cu Xuan Tien - Head of Admissions and Student Affairs Department of University of Economics and Law (Ho Chi Minh City National University), said that since January 2024, the school has established a working group to develop admission subject combinations and admission plans for 2025.
After carefully analyzing the new high school education program 2028, the number of candidates registering for admission, passing the exam, and enrolling each year according to each group, the academic performance of candidates enrolling according to each method and group over the years, the structure of subject groups of high schools, textbooks, teaching outlines of new subjects... the working group proposed and was unanimously approved by the enrollment summary conference (November 6).
"The 2025 enrollment plan is designed to select excellent candidates, ensuring input quality that is consistent with the school's training requirements and meets the strict demands of the labor market.
The school plans to announce the detailed 2025 enrollment plan before February 2025. In case the Ministry of Education and Training and Ho Chi Minh City National University issue new enrollment regulations, the school will update and adjust the enrollment plan in accordance with the regulations," Mr. Tien added.
In addition, according to Mr. Tien, Circular 08/2022/TT-BGDDT of the Minister of Education and Training on university admission regulations clearly states that "no more than 4 admission combinations can be used for one major or one training program", so the school temporarily issued the 4 expected subject combinations as above.
In the near future, if the Ministry of Education and Training issues new admission regulations that remove the maximum limit of 4 combinations, the school will consider adding the combination of math - physics - chemistry (A00).
