Gold prices plummet after overheating

At the end of today, April 3, the world gold price plummeted from the peak of 3,167.8 USD/ounce to 3,090.2 USD/ounce. Thus, compared to the newly set record, the world gold price has evaporated 77.6 USD/ounce, equivalent to 2.43 million VND/tael.

At the current price, converted according to the listed exchange rate at the bank, the world gold price is equivalent to 96.87 million VND/tael.

The world gold price suddenly plummeted due to profit-taking pressure and in accordance with the market rule that "news is news, sell". Since the beginning of the year, the world gold price has increased by about 20%, especially, the world gold price has continuously broken the peak in the past two weeks when US President Donald Trump set the time to announce the "reciprocal" tax rate.

According to expert Tran Duy Phuong, along with announcing the high tariffs, the US also revealed the possibility that the tariffs will be reduced if other countries take action to reduce tariffs on US goods. This news has caused the price of gold to fall. Combined with the rule of "buying rumors, selling facts" (investors buy when there are rumors and sell when information is announced), this is the time for investors to "dump stocks".

Domestically, the selling price of SJC gold bars this afternoon fell from VND102.8 million/tael to VND102.2 million/tael. The buying price decreased to VND99.5 million/tael. Thus, the price of SJC gold bars decreased by VND600,000/tael for selling and VND400,000/tael for buying.

Meanwhile, the price of 9999 gold rings at SJC Company decreased to 102 million VND/tael. The buying price was 99.4 million VND/tael, down 500,000 VND/tael in both directions.

At PNJ Company, the selling price of SJC gold bars also decreased to 102.2 million VND/tael. The buying price decreased to 99.5 million VND/tael.

The price of 9999 gold rings sold at PNJ Company is equal to the price of gold bars.

At Bao Tin Minh Chau Company, the price of 9999 gold rings decreased by 600,000 VND/tael, to 102.3 million VND/tael, while the buying price fell to 99.1 million VND/tael.

Compared to the converted world gold price, the domestic gold price is about 5.33 million VND/tael higher.

The difference between buying and selling gold prices is very large, in some places it is up to 2.5 - 2.7 million VND/tael. This is a risk for gold buyers at this time.

Meanwhile, the bank USD price reached 26,000 VND/USD for the first time today.

Vietcombank listed the USD selling price this morning at 25,960 VND/USD, an increase of 140 VND/USD compared to yesterday.

However, this afternoon, the USD selling price at Vietcombank reached 26,000 VND/USD for the first time in history. The buying price also increased from 25,570 VND/USD to 25,610 VND/USD.

Thus, just today, the USD selling price at Vietcombank increased by 180 VND/USD and was only lower than the ceiling price of 97 VND/USD.

At Eximbank, the USD selling price increased to 25,980 VND/USD, but by the end of the day it slightly decreased by 10 VND/USD, to 25,970 VND/USD. However, the transfer buying price jumped to 25,620 VND/USD, an increase of 150 VND/USD in the buying direction.

This morning, Sacombank also increased the selling price of USD to 25,980 VND/USD, while the buying price jumped to 25,620 VND/USD - also almost the highest level in the market.

By the end of the day, the USD selling price at Sacombank dropped to 25,965 VND/USD. The buying price also dropped to 25,605 VND/USD.

The State Bank today only increased the central exchange rate by 3 dong compared to yesterday, up to

24,854 VND/USD. With a margin of +/-5%, today's ceiling exchange rate is 26,097 VND/USD, the floor exchange rate is 23,611 VND/USD.

Thus, compared to the allowed ceiling, the USD selling price at banks today is still 97 - 132 VND/USD lower.
