Bitcoin hit a session high of $107,148 before falling to $106,877, marking a 5.43% gain over the weekend. The second-ranked cryptocurrency, ether, also gained 1.85% and traded at $3,975.70.
Bitcoin's rally continued after news that President-elect Donald Trump would maintain a Bitcoin strategic reserve, with a forecast that the price could surpass $110,000. Investor sentiment was also bolstered by the addition of major software company MicroStrategy to the Nasdaq 100 index, raising expectations of new capital inflows into Bitcoin.
The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 1.2% to 20,173.89, marking its second close above 20,000. Strong earnings from Broadcom, Alphabet (Google's parent company), and other major tech companies helped drive the gains.
On the other hand, the Dow Jones index fell slightly by 0.3% to 43,717.48 points, while the S&P 500 increased by 0.4% to 6,074.08 points.
According to analysts, this development occurred as investors were evaluating recent economic data and waiting for the final policy announcement of the year from the US Federal Reserve (Fed).
