Once a month, female soldiers at the Quang Ngai Provincial Border Guard Command voluntarily contribute 10,000 VND each to the “Piggy Bank for Love” fund. With little money, but much heart, after saving enough money from raising piggy banks, the women buy real pigs to give to poor women. Over the past 3 years, the “Piggy Bank for Love” fund of the Quang Ngai Border Guard Women’s Association has helped many families in the coastal border with poverty.
Sharing with reporters, Ms. Phung Thi Lan - in Pho Thanh Ward, Duc Pho Town, Quang Ngai Province said that her husband has suffered from stroke and diabetes for 12 years, so family life is increasingly difficult. She herself has no place to rely on. "Thanks to the Women's Union of the Border Guard of Quang Ngai Province for giving me a pair of pigs to raise and reproduce many litters, helping my family have a sustainable source of income, no longer having to work for hire" - Ms. Lan confided.
From the kind hearts of female soldiers, many poor women have received quality pigs to develop their economy . Talking to reporters, Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thi Thu Hang - President of the Women's Union of Quang Ngai Border Guards confided: "We women want to learn from Uncle Ho's thrift. Every day when going to the market, we save about 2,000 VND to maintain the piggy bank fund. When the piggy bank model was transformed into breeding pigs and we knew that these pigs we gave to poor women brought good results, we felt very touched."

Quang Ngai province has more than 4,000 fishing boats, with about 37,000 workers working at sea. When fishermen get sick or have accidents, border guards promptly check their health and take them to medical facilities for treatment. Free ambulances branded as border guards are always present at fishing ports and wharves whenever someone is in trouble.
Talking to reporters, Colonel Nguyen Van Dat - Political Commissar of Quang Ngai Border Guard said that actions such as raising piggy banks to help the poor, or helping fishermen in distress, left a good impression on the green-uniformed soldiers. Encourage the sense of responsibility of each cadre and party member in the Provincial Border Guard Party Committee.
"Learning from Uncle Ho to serve the people has become the red thread running through the officers and soldiers of the Quang Ngai Border Guard. For the soldiers in green uniforms, helping people overcome poverty and illness is also building their agencies and units stronger and stronger" - Colonel Nguyen Van Dat emphasized.
