Mui Ne Ward Police, Phan Thiet City has transferred the case file to the Provincial Police Investigation Agency to handle and resolve the group of thieves who stole tourists' property at Mui Ne sand hill.
Previously, on March 22, Ms. Gu Xiaolan (a Chinese tourist) went to Mui Ne Ward Police to report the loss of property in the Mui Ne sand dunes area.
Specifically, when she went to Mui Ne sand dunes to have fun, Ms. Gu Xiaolan rented a skateboard from some people.
At this time, a woman (who rented sandboards) told Ms. Gu Xiaolan to give her bag to keep for her. Meanwhile, she and her husband were guided sandboarding by some people.
After finishing sandboarding, Ms. Gu Xiaolan returned to the hotel to rest, checked and discovered that 400 USD and 1.5 million VND were missing.
After receiving the information, Mui Ne Ward Police collected information and investigated the case.
Through verification, Mui Ne Ward Police arrested a group of thieves including Pham Thi Ngoc Bay (30 years old), Le Thi Thu (22 years old), Le Thi Le (27 years old), Nguyen Thi Kim Trang (30 years old), Nguyen Thi Hieu (69 years old), and Do Minh Truong (19 years old). All are from Mui Ne Ward.
At the police station, the group admitted to working together, assigning security duties, and participating in the theft of property from a female Chinese tourist.
Among them, Bay was the one who held the bag and directly stole the money in Gu Xiaolan's bag. After taking the money, Bay divided the money among the remaining members of the group.
In addition, the group also confessed to having committed many other pickpocketing cases before at Mui Ne sand hill.
