On January 15, the Investigation Police Agency of Hong Ngu District Police (Dong Thap Province) informed that the authorities had prosecuted and detained Ho Tien Si (born in 1997, residing in Long Khanh B Commune, Hong Ngu District) for the act of "Resisting a person on official duty".

Initial information, on the evening of December 19, 2023, after getting drunk, Ho Tien Si had a conflict and scuffle with people in Long Khanh B commune, Hong Ngu district. The incident was reported to the commune police by the people.
Upon receiving the report, Long Khanh B Commune Police assigned forces to coordinate with the commune team to resolve the incident.
Upon arriving at the scene, Major Vo Van Tan directly met Ho Tien Si to explain and invite him to the station for questioning. At this time, Ho Tien Si did not comply, but instead took a knife and a stick and attacked Major Vo Van Tan.
When the commune police increased their support, Si continued to chase and fight back with knives and sticks against the law enforcement officers. The police then coordinated to invite Si to the commune police headquarters for questioning.
At the investigation agency, Si admitted that all of the above actions were due to being drunk and unable to control himself.
The case is being further investigated by the Hong Ngu District Police Department.
Regarding the act of resisting a person on official duty, in November 2023, District 5 Police (HCMC) also issued a decision to prosecute and detain Nguyen Thanh Cuong (41 years old, residing in District 4) to investigate the act of "Resisting a person on official duty".
Specifically, on the evening of November 8, 2023, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Cuong drove a motorbike carrying a person on An Duong Vuong Street (Ward 8, District 5).
When the Cho Lon Traffic Police discovered that both of them were showing signs of being drunk, they asked them to stop the car for an administrative check and to measure their alcohol concentration.
However, not only did he not cooperate, Mr. Cuong also shouted loudly and chased and beat an officer on duty; used his foot to knock over the officer's motorbike.
Even though many people nearby tried to stop him, this man still could not keep calm and control his behavior.
After Ward 8 Police sent forces to assist, the authorities measured Mr. Cuong's alcohol concentration and the result was that he violated the level of 0.711 mg/liter of breath.
The working group drew up an administrative violation report for Mr. Cuong for the following violations: driving on the road with a breath alcohol concentration exceeding 0.4 mg/liter of breath, no driver's license, no vehicle registration.
