Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board (BQLRPH) is assigned to manage, protect and organize production and business on an area of 10,292.14 hectares of forest, including 8,343.25 hectares of natural forest. Most of the protective forest area in remote communes is mainly high hills and mountains, with fragmented terrain and degraded roads, making patrolling and forest protection (BVR) difficult.

Protection combined with effective forest development at Lang Chanh Protective Forest Management Board Engineers and workers of Lang Chanh Forest Management Board take care of seedlings at the nursery for forest planting in 2024.

5 BVR stations under the Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board located in communes have directed and organized forest protection and development (BV&PTR), coordinated with local authorities, local forest rangers, villages and hamlets to organize propaganda on the Forestry Law to raise awareness of local people and households contracted to forest land to proactively BV&PTR. Provided technical guidance and organized households to plant new production forests in an intensive manner such as planting high-quality forestry seedlings (acacia tissue, acacia cuttings), safely protected the assigned forest area, cared for and exploited planted forests that have produced products according to regulations. Organized the signing of BVR commitments with 100% of households contracted to BVR in the management board's area. The Board has applied technology to store routes using global positioning coordinates (using handheld GPS or tablets) to control all patrol, inspection and BVR activities of 5 affiliated BVR stations; collected data to assess the current status and security of land and forests.

By proactively planting and protecting forests, local people have more jobs on the spot, income from labor and forest products, contributing to hunger eradication, poverty reduction and improving living standards; preventing violations of the Forestry Law. Many households in the area have contracted forests and forestry land, built comprehensive farms and planted production forests, and protected forests with quite high economic efficiency.

Director of Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board Le Xuan Diep shared: The unit has been proactively implementing many solutions to socialize sustainable forest protection and development work. Notably, the board has developed plans and created land use planning maps associated with the planning of 3 types of forests. Land and forest types are managed and used for the right purposes, in accordance with the forestry development planning of the industry, locality and current legal regulations. The adjusted land area for production forests has created favorable conditions for the board to proactively organize production, facilitating the mobilization of resources from contracted households who are local people for forest protection and development. Proactively develop coordination regulations with Party committees, authorities of communes, towns and functional agencies in implementing Directive No. 13-CT/TW, dated January 12, 2017 of the Secretariat on strengthening the leadership of the Party in forest management, protection and development. Focus on coordinating with local authorities with forests to determine the boundaries of management, organize temporary markers at key locations to clearly define, avoid disputes, and avoid land misuse. The Board has completed 100% of the assignment (long-term stable assignment; assignment of work and services) of forest areas and forest land according to Decree 168/2016/ND-CP dated December 27, 2016 of the Government for 19 village and hamlet communities and nearly 500 households and individuals to protect, plant and care for forests. Provide technical guidance and organize households to plant new production forests in the direction of sustainable intensive farming; BVR is assigned to manage, protect, care for and exploit planted forests that have produced products according to regulations.

Currently, 10,292.14 hectares of forest in the area are well managed and protected; forest security is always stable, the forest cover by the current management board reaches 99.09%. Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board has been granted FSC sustainable forest management certificate for the entire 10,292.14 hectares of forest since 2019, so the value of wood has been increased, qualified for export to the international market. However, due to the impact of the global economic recession, wood products cannot be sold, currently the leaders of Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board are overcoming difficulties in finding funding sources to maintain the FSC certificate.

The Board has proactively planted production forests in the direction of intensive large timber forest cultivation, using basal fertilizers and top dressing for plants during the care period, so more than 1,800 hectares of newly planted areas from previous years have grown and developed well and have been exploited. In the period from 2017 to 2022, the Board has newly planted 824 hectares of large timber forests; in 2023, 171.6 hectares of large timber forests were planted with hybrid acacia and Australian acacia on the production forest area that has just been exploited according to regulations (exceeding 71.6 hectares compared to the assigned plan). In the first months of 2024, Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board has prepared conditions for planting 100 hectares of new forests. Effective forest development at Lang Chanh Forest Protection Management Board has increased income for forest owners, contributing to sustainable forest protection and development.
