After the storm No. 3 passed, many localities in the province are focusing on overcoming the consequences of floods. Shopping centers, supermarkets, markets and many businesses and small traders are also making efforts to ensure the supply of goods to serve the needs of the people, not allowing the situation of taking advantage of the natural disaster to "hoard goods and increase prices", especially essential goods after the storm.

According to the report of the Department of Industry and Trade, before and after the storm, the supply and distribution of goods at shopping centers, supermarkets, markets, convenience stores and grocery stores in the province were guaranteed. The prices of goods were stable, there was no hoarding or sudden price increases, including essential goods such as: Food, food, green vegetables, filtered water... with high purchasing power.

During this flood, many areas in Ha Hoa district were deeply submerged in water, causing disruptions in operations at Hien Luong, Dan Thuong, Xuan Ang, Van Lang, Bang Gia markets, etc. The local government and philanthropists joined hands to ensure timely service for the supply of essential goods to people in the affected areas.

Ms. Ngo Thi Thanh Hoa - Deputy Head of the Economic Infrastructure Department of Ha Hoa district said: "The whole district has 6/17 markets affected by storms and rains. Immediately after the water receded, the Market Management Board and traders quickly repaired and cleaned the environment around the market so that the exchange of goods at the market could return soon. Apart from the flooded areas, commercial activities took place normally, the circulation of goods was continuous, ensuring supply, and market prices did not fluctuate much."

According to the actual situation at some markets in the province after storm No. 3, the supply of essential goods is abundant. However, due to the situation of storms and floods occurring in many localities inside and outside the province, the price of vegetables and fruits has increased compared to before the storm. Typically at Minh Phuong market, Viet Tri city, water spinach costs 7,000 VND/bunch, an increase of 2,000 VND/bunch; squash costs 20,000 VND/kg, an increase of 3,000 VND/kg; potatoes cost 20,000 - 25,000 VND/kg, an increase of 3,000 VND/kg, squash costs 20,000 VND/kg, an increase of 5,000 VND/kg; Vegetables 25,000 VND/kg, up 7,000 VND/kg... Pork prices basically remain stable, at 110,000 - 140,000 VND/kg depending on the type. The price of regular rice is basically stable, fluctuating from 17,000 - 19,000 VND/kg...

Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong - a vegetable and fruit vendor at Minh Phuong market said: The price of green vegetables increased due to the impact of storm No. 3, so some areas of green vegetables were flooded, causing damage or yellowing, the quality was not guaranteed; the harvesting and transportation from other places was also slower, but the supply was not lacking.

Not only at the market, the amount of goods at 4 shopping centers; 13 supermarkets and over 20,000 convenience stores and grocery stores in the province is also abundant, ensuring supply and distribution to the people. Present at the Co.opmart Viet Tri supermarket system, Viet Tri city on the morning of September 14, shelves of fresh food such as: Meat, fish, eggs, vegetables of all kinds are continuously replenished, filling the shelves. Prices are stable, clearly listed.

Mr. Ngo Duy Hien - Deputy Director of the Supermarket said: Before the storm, people had the mentality of hoarding goods, so some types of green vegetables and fresh foods were out of stock early. The Supermarket quickly replenished its supply, especially increasing the number of leafy vegetables, tubers, and fruits originating from Da Lat to create diversity in types. Pork, chicken, basa fish, shrimp, etc. are also very diverse. Regarding the reserve plan, the Supermarket always has a plan to reserve dry products in the warehouse; at the same time, coordinate with central warehouses in the system and suppliers to ensure that the supply is not interrupted and prices do not fluctuate.

Continuing to implement the direction of the Ministry of Industry and Trade on ensuring the supply of essential goods to help stabilize the market after the storm, the province directed the Department of Industry and Trade to preside over and coordinate with the Market Management Department (MDM) and related units to closely monitor the market situation; coordinate with production and trading units to deploy measures to support and ensure adequate supply of essential goods and goods serving the work of overcoming the consequences of the storm for affected areas; mobilize, supervise and request business units of essential goods, construction materials and repair materials to commit to stabilizing the prices of goods.

Conduct an assessment of the ability to supply essential goods to serve daily needs in areas isolated by storms and floods in the districts of Ha Hoa, Cam Khe, Doan Hung... to propose needs, coordinate essential goods sources through distribution channels, promptly supply to people and stabilize the market in areas isolated by storms and floods when necessary.

Request the Market Management Department to strengthen market inspection and control, strictly handle violations related to prices, commodity speculation, creating commodity shortages to raise prices, and illegal profiteering; prevent hoarding and unreasonable price hikes to ensure price stability, supply and demand of goods, especially food, foodstuffs, gasoline, essential goods and goods serving construction repair, electricity, electronics, machinery, equipment and household appliances...
