Ba Thuoc has many relics, scenic spots, craft villages... which are advantages for the district to develop tourism associated with cultural preservation, restoration and development of traditional craft villages.
Chairman of Lung Niem Commune People's Committee Bui Van Tung said: Brocade weaving began to appear in Lan Ngoai village, Lung Niem commune since the 18th century. On December 21, 2021, Lan Ngoai village was recognized by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee as a traditional occupation, craft village, and traditional craft village. In order for the craft village to develop, in recent years, the commune's brocade weaving profession has been recovering and developing strongly. From the funding source of the Project "Preserving and developing traditional occupations and craft villages in Thanh Hoa ethnic minority areas in the period of 2016-2020" and the support fund of the Provincial Women's Union, the commune has mobilized people to invest in buying sewing machines, brocade weaving frames, restoring and developing the traditional weaving profession, both creating jobs, increasing income for people, and having more products to serve community tourism activities. Up to now, the whole commune has 83 households participating in production with 71 looms and 13 places displaying brocade embroidery items. Thanks to the traditional brocade weaving profession, the average income of each worker in the village reaches 52 million VND/year; in addition, the village also welcomes about 11,000 tourists every year to visit and experience the craft village.
Located in the core area of Pu Luong Nature Reserve, Thanh Lam commune is endowed by nature with extremely rich tourism resources. In particular, the wine production here has been around for hundreds of years, mainly concentrated in Tan Thanh village. Previously, the wine production was made by local people and used in their families on holidays and Tet... Chairman of Thanh Lam Commune People's Committee Nguyen Co Thach said: Since Pu Luong became a tourist destination and Tan Thanh village was recognized by the province as a traditional wine production village, the wine production has had the conditions to develop in a commercial direction. Currently, Tan Thanh village has 30 households participating in wine production. The households participating in the profession all have stable incomes, many households have a comfortable life. Income from wine production has contributed to raising the income of people in the commune.
Talking about the interest in developing typical tourism products of local ethnic minorities, Head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ba Thuoc district, Ha Nam Khanh, said: The district has Plan No. 129 outlining 3 key tasks, including determining the restoration of craft villages, replicating the production model of brocade weaving, handicrafts, weaving... to become souvenirs in Lung Niem, Thanh Lam, Thanh Son communes and other traditional occupations in the locality with community tourism spots. Currently, in the district, there are 2 traditional craft villages recognized to serve tourism, including the brocade weaving village of Lan Ngoai village, Lung Niem commune; the wine production village of Tan Thanh village, Thanh Lam commune. The district also has 10 products recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards that are introduced and sold in tourist areas and spots.
Ba Thuoc district has been and is continuing to effectively promote and implement the work of preserving, building and developing traditional craft villages, preserving the local cultural identity; gradually linking tourism activities, building craft village brands towards forming cultural - tourism craft villages; promoting the community cultural - ecological tourism model. Along with that, proactively coordinating with departments and branches to plan, reorganize production, build concentrated raw material areas, build craft village value chains, develop human resources, apply science - technology, promote trade promotion activities, build and develop brands of craft village products to contribute to promoting tourism development in the area.
