Part 3 : Set an example and improve yourself every day

Setting an example is of special importance, not only helping each person overcome and correct their shortcomings and limitations, but also spreading good actions and deeds, contributing to encouraging, cheering, and motivating others to learn and follow. For this reason, Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - a teacher of class 4/1, Que My Thanh Primary School (Que My Thanh Commune, Tan Tru District), always strives to improve himself every day, "practice what you say" and be exemplary in every gesture and word of a Party member.

Passionate about the career of "growing people"

Every morning, when the schoolyard is still quiet, Mr. Thanh is there. As has been his habit for many years, he meticulously arranges the tables and chairs, checks the lesson plans, and prepares everything to welcome the students. After 29 years in the classroom and school, he still maintains the same dedication as the first day he set foot on the podium.

Few people know that the teaching profession came to Mr. Thanh not from a dream he had cherished since childhood but from a surprising decision. After graduating from high school, he spent 2 years supporting his family, then packed his bags and went to Ho Chi Minh City to study electrical engineering. But when Long An Pedagogical College was recruiting, his sister encouraged him to apply. Thinking of a more stable job, he decided to turn to a new path - the path of a "sower" of knowledge.

In 1996, after graduating, he took on his first assignment at Thanh Hung Primary School (Thanh Hung Commune, Tan Hung District). Most of his students at that time came from difficult circumstances, the road to class was full of sun, dust, and mud. Some of them went to school while helping their families, some came to school with worn-out shirts and worn-out sandals.

It was those years that made him realize that: "Teaching is not only about imparting knowledge but also about instilling hope and motivation for students to change their lives." Therefore, outside of class hours, he and other teachers at the school go to each student's house to encourage them to continue going to class and guide parents on how to accompany their children in their studies.

In 2009, Mr. Thanh started working at Tan Phuoc Tay Primary School, Tan Tru District, and then transferred to Que My Thanh Primary School to take care of his elderly mother. But no matter where he is, the classroom is still his second home.

Realizing that primary school students not only need knowledge but also care and encouragement, the teacher created a common Zalo group for the class to connect with parents to discuss and guide how to support children in studying at home. For weak students, the teacher spends more time to enrich their knowledge, not leaving any student behind.

Model party member

Not only devoted to the career of "growing people", Mr. Thanh is also a person who "inspires" his colleagues. As an exemplary member of the Party Committee, he actively participates in giving opinions in Party cell meetings and shares teaching experiences with young colleagues. In 2024, he completed the elementary Political Theory class with honors, which is a testament to his spirit of continuous learning.

Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh - teacher of class 4/1, Que My Thanh Primary School (Que My Thanh commune, Tan Tru district), is always dedicated to nurturing and helping dreams of many generations of students take flight.

The teacher's persistent efforts have been recognized. The Provincial Party Committee awarded him a Certificate of Merit for excellent performance in 5 consecutive years (2019-2023). The Commune People's Committee also awarded him a Certificate of Merit for his good achievements in implementing "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and lifestyle" in 2024. In particular, he was awarded the title of Provincial Emulation Fighter for his excellent performance in completing his tasks from the 2021-2022 school year to the 2023-2024 school year along with many other certificates of merit. This is the motivation for him to continue striving to be considered for the title of Excellent Teacher this school year.

Party Cell Secretary and Principal of Que My Thanh Primary School - Nguyen Van Trang said: “The school is proposing to the superiors to approve Mr. Nguyen Van Thanh to receive the Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister. This title is not only an honor for Mr. Thanh but also a pride for the whole school. Because Mr. Thanh is a dedicated “ferryman” who nurtures and gives wings to the dreams of many generations of students, he deserves to be honored.”

Outside the classroom door, the sun was already high in the sky, the children chattered and greeted their teacher before rushing to their seats. Looking at those innocent faces, Mr. Thanh smiled. For him, the greatest happiness is to stand on the podium, quietly leading generations of students across the vast ocean of knowledge./.
