Conquering the world's largest cave, Son Doong, is considered one of the most worthwhile experiences in life. In addition to the difficult journey, the unique beauty of the cave world or the wonders of nature, the overnight campsites also leave a strong impression on visitors. These places were once voted "The most impressive campsites in the world" by the British magazine, Daily Mail .

In the photo is the Hang En campsite , the first night stop on the journey to conquer Son Doong Cave.

The Hang En campsite is considered “unique in the world,” according to British cave expert Howard Limbert. Here, the early morning rays of sunlight penetrate deep into the cave, creating a fairy-tale scene. These rays of sunlight usually only appear from December to February, due to the movement of the Earth’s axis and the Sun. The campsite is also a great place to watch the stars on clear nights.

The campsite is about 700 m from the cave entrance, chosen for camping, with a cave ceiling 140 m high, 200 m wide, with a fine sand beach and a blue lake, visitors can swim right in front of their tents. Also from this location, visitors can see monkeys and langurs swinging and playing on the cave mouth. Photo: Havcxd

Sinkhole Camp 1 is the second night stop of the trip. The sinkhole is an area where the cave ceiling has partially collapsed, creating a skylight.

This campsite is located nearly 5 km from the entrance of Son Doong Cave. The campsite is located on the edge of the sinkhole so it receives light from the cave mouth.

The camp and common area are located on the sand next to the sinkhole. On a cloudy day, you can see the clouds right below you from this sinkhole. The humidity here is higher than in Hang En, the temperature is lower than outside, cold and damp. Most of the visitors' belongings and clothes cannot dry here, and may even get wetter.

50m from the campsite (about 10 minutes walk) is an underground river with a temperature of 18-20 degrees Celsius, where visitors can swim and soak after a day of traveling. To experience the underground river, visitors are required to wear life jackets.

Sinkhole Campsite 2 is much larger than Sinkhole 1 due to the intersection of two faults during the formation of the cave. The area is 175 m wide and 250 m high from the mouth of the sinkhole. Inside the sinkhole is a primeval Garden of Edam forest, with ancient trees reaching 40 m high.

Sinkholes 2 is the final stop on the journey to conquer Son Doong Cave. From here, visitors will spend the night before trekking for about 30 minutes and wading across the river to the Wall of Vietnam and from there exiting the cave. On rainy days, from the campsite, visitors can watch the waterfalls flowing from the cave ceiling without affecting the campsite.

The campsite is located on fine sand, far from rivers and streams, so it is safe in case of sudden rains and floods. This is also the campsite with the most light because the cave entrance is wide. The average temperature here is around 22 to 25 degrees Celsius in summer and around 16 to 20 degrees Celsius in winter.

All campsites have environmentally friendly toilets that do not discharge waste into water sources or bury it in caves. The toilet facilities are custom-made, with a waste bag container underneath. After using the toilet, visitors use rice husks to put in the waste bag to dry and deodorize.

Tents (double or single) have insect screens, double mattresses, sleeping bags, blankets, and pillows. Underneath the tent is a pallet that is heat and moisture resistant. In addition, the campsites have food, tea, coffee, and main and side meals.
