Last night (March 4), Apple introduced the faster, more powerful iPad Air with the M3 chip and integrated Apple Intelligence. This is the first time the "Apple" has brought advanced graphics architecture to the iPad Air, combined with incredible power-saving performance.
Apple has breathed new life into its iPad lineup by updating the iPad Air and base iPad with new chips and capabilities. The iPad Air now features Apple's powerful M3 chip and a new "Magic Keyboard," while the base iPad gets Apple's A16 processor and increased base storage.

These changes are expected to boost Apple's iPad revenue, which is set to decline 6% in 2024 to $26.6 billion from $28.3 billion in 2023. In the first quarter, the company reported iPad revenue of $8.1 billion, up from $7 billion in the same period last year.
This has helped Apple maintain revenue amid struggling iPhone sales, with sales of the company’s most important product flat in 2024 compared to 2023 and down from $69.7 billion in the first quarter of last year to $69.1 billion in the first quarter of this year.
The new iPad Air is essentially the same as its predecessor, save for an updated processor. The 11-inch model still costs $599, while the 13-inch version costs $799. Both tablets retain the same rear camera setup and include Apple’s Center Stage front-facing camera, which helps keep subjects centered in the frame during FaceTime calls.
According to the announcement of the "Apple", both models have Liquid Retina LED screens, support Apple Pencil and battery life up to 10 hours. The new iPad Air also integrates the Apple Intelligence artificial intelligence platform, technology that Apple hopes will be the answer to the rise of chatbots such as ChatGPT, Google Gemini and DeepSeek.
The biggest change on the iPad Air is the inclusion of Apple's M3 processor, which the company says is 34 percent faster than the M1-powered iPad Air. The M3 also brings more powerful graphics to the iPad, including hardware-accelerated ray-tracing, which improves lighting effects in games.

Apple also launched a new Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air, which comes with a 14-key function row. The 11-inch version costs $269, while the 13-inch model costs $319.
In addition to the iPad Air, Apple also introduced a new entry-level iPad. The tablet now has double the starting storage, up from 64GB to 128GB. Apple says the new iPad is 30 percent faster than the previous version.
However, unlike the iPad Air, the basic iPad does not have Apple Intelligence built in. The reason is that the A16 processor of the device does not support this AI platform. However, users still have the Center Stage camera and 12MP rear camera.
