Speaking at the opening of the workshop, Ms. Do Hong Xoan, Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association, President of the Vietnam Hotel Association, said that in recent times, along with many open visa policies of the Government, the support of ministries and branches, Vietnam's tourism and hotels have had many advantages. However, the tourism and hotel industry is also facing many difficulties and challenges such as fluctuations in human resources after the COVID-19 pandemic, the price of gold is "skyrocketing", the price of raw materials, equipment, and food is increasing, some items have doubled, the influence of AI is becoming more and more widespread...
In this context, those who have worked in the profession for many years need to understand, share, and have practical solutions to overcome difficulties, not only to maintain the best hotel operations and good revenue, but also to ensure sustainable development of the tourism and hotel industry.
Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Tran Huy Duc, lecturer at the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality, National Economics University, pointed out the core factors that create competitive advantages in hotel services. Notably, according to Dr. Tran Huy Duc, applying technology and artificial intelligence - Al is a solution that can help optimize hotel operating costs. However, Mr. Duc also said that robots cannot completely replace humans. There are parts of technology that can be replaced to reduce costs, and there are parts that cannot replace humans.
Discussing the structure and movement of operating costs in hotels, Mr. Le Minh Thai, representative of the investor of Pullman Hai Phong Hotel, said that currently, along with investing in management systems, hotels are increasing costs for applying automation technology, chatbots, and self-check-in to reduce personnel costs, enhance network security and secure customer data. This also means that many steps in the hotel's operating process will replace humans with machines. Of course, to achieve the desired goal, there needs to be a roadmap...
At the workshop, delegates and speakers also focused on discussing practices and solutions to optimize operating costs in hotels. Many practical solutions were shared by guests with many years of experience in high-end hotel management. In addition to solutions on applying technology and AI, managers shared many solutions to minimize costs in hotel operations, including experience in selecting and using human resources; applying flexible models such as outsourcing, seasonal; investing in energy-saving solutions, converting to renewable energy sources, long-term investment, etc.
