On the afternoon of July 3, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training announced the benchmark scores for entering grade 10 of public high schools in 2024.
According to Lao Dong statistics, 60 high schools reduced their benchmark scores from 0.25 - 2.25 points; 34 schools increased their scores from 0.25 - 2.5 points and 13 schools kept their benchmark scores the same as in 2023.
In the group of schools with reduced benchmark scores, Phuoc Long High School had the sharpest decrease of 2.25 points (from 18.5 in 2023 to 16.25); followed by Nguyen Chi Thanh High School, down 2 points (from 20.25 to 18.25).
Schools: Giong Ong To High School, Nguyen Hue High School, Nguyen Du High School all decreased by 1.75 points.
Notably, in the group of 10 schools with the highest benchmark scores this year, only the University of Education Practice High School increased by 0.5 points (from 22.5 to 23). The remaining 9 schools all decreased their benchmark scores compared to last year, of which Gia Dinh High School decreased the most with 1.5 points (from 24.5 to 23); Nguyen Thuong Hien High School decreased by 1.25 points (25.5 to 24.25).
Nguyen Thi Minh Khai High School and Phu Nhuan High School decreased by 1 point; Mac Dinh Chi High School and Le Quy Don High School decreased by 0.75 points; Nguyen Huu Huan High School and Nguyen Huu Cau High School decreased by 0.5 points and Tran Phu High School decreased by 0.25 points.
On the other hand, Binh Chanh Sports Gifted School increased the most with 2.5 points (from 11.5 to 14); followed by Ngo Gia Tu High School with an increase of 2 points (from 12 to 14).
Quang Trung High School and Le Minh Xuan High School both increased by 1.75 points; Binh Chanh, Vinh Loc B, Phong Phu, Cu Chi, Phu Hoa, Nguyen Van Cu, and Phuoc Kieng High Schools increased by 1.5 points.
In 2024, Ho Chi Minh City has 98,681 candidates registered for the 10th grade entrance exam, of which public high schools recruit more than 77,300 candidates.
The exam takes place over two days, June 6-7, with three subjects: Math, Literature (120 minutes) and Foreign Language (90 minutes). Candidates register for specialized classes and take the corresponding additional exam within 150 minutes.
The admission score is the total score of the three subjects Literature, Mathematics, Foreign Language and priority points (if any). Candidates must take all three subjects, not violate the regulations and not receive a failing score (0 points). After the results are announced, candidates are not allowed to change their preferences.
