The Hue Half Marathon 2023, assigned by the People's Committee of Thua Thien - Hue province to coordinate and organize for the first time in Hue city, opened this morning, June 25, attracting more than 5,000 athletes from all over to register to participate.
Early in the morning, athletes started in front of Phu Van Lau (Le Duan Street), conquering the 5km, 10km and 21km distances. The route through the inner city streets, famous heritage sites in Hue... brought many new experiences to domestic and international runners.
Participating in this race, as one of the runners who regularly appears in professional races, Mr. Quach Tieu Bao (33 years old, Hue City) expressed: "Although this is the first time organizing, but compared to the local perspective, this race is organized quite well, bringing a new professional playground for the running community in Hue".
On the 5km run, the athletes conquered the route along both banks of the Perfume River filled with rows of green trees, enjoying the beauty of the natural atmosphere of the ancient capital of Hue in the early morning on the two bridges Da Vien and Truong Tien.
With a 10km run, athletes run across Truong Tien Bridge, explore the beauty of Con Hen and the buildings of Hue City in the early morning on Cho Dinh Bridge, feel the ancient features of Chi Lang ancient town and experience the final journey on the heritage roads of Hue Citadel.
Finally, the 21 km stage. After completing the 10 km distance, the athletes continued their journey on the inner-city heritage roads, then on the suburban roads of the northern part of Hue City, then ended the journey at the starting point (Phu Van Lau).
According to the Hue Half Marathon 2023 Organizing Committee, in order for the race to take place professionally, the unit has coordinated with the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS) to measure the standard distances. Athletes participating in this race can use the results as part of the criteria for qualifying to participate in prestigious Half Marathons around the world.
Through this race, the Organizing Committee hopes to contribute to stimulating tourism, promoting the image of people and landscapes of the ancient capital of Hue to domestic and international friends.
