48 hours in Binh Thuan

Binh Thuan has beautiful beaches, delicious food and many unique experiences suitable for weekend and holiday travel.

Binh Thuan has many tourist attractions spread throughout the province, but most are concentrated in Phan Thiet city and its surrounding areas. Among them, the most famous are Mui Ne tourist area and white sand dunes (Bau Trang). Traveling from Ho Chi Minh City to Binh Thuan is now convenient thanks to the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, taking more than 2 hours.

Day 1

Morning

Have breakfast in Phan Thiet city with local dishes such as banh can, banh canh cha ca, bun bo rau ram, banh hoi long heo, banh beo or com ga. Tourists can easily find restaurants in the city center, with average prices per person from 20,000 VND to 40,000 VND depending on the dish.

Visit two famous places in the city center: Van Thuy Tu Palace and President Ho Chi Minh Memorial Area (including Duc Thanh School and Ho Chi Minh Museum located next to each other).

Van Thuy Tu Temple is a place to worship the ancestors of the fishing profession of Binh Thuan fishermen. Inside the temple are more than 100 whale skeletons, including the largest whale skeleton in Southeast Asia. This is also the place to preserve 24 royal decrees of the Nguyen Dynasty kings.

Duc Thanh School is where President Ho Chi Minh taught from September 1910 to February 1911, before leaving to find a way to save the country. The school grounds still retain almost intact the mementos associated with President Ho Chi Minh's time teaching here.

Noon

Afternoon and evening

Visit Ke Ga Lighthouse, about 30 km from Phan Thiet city. This is one of the tourist attractions because of its beautiful scenery. Ke Ga Lighthouse was built by the French in 1897 and is currently one of the oldest lighthouses in Vietnam. According to Mr. Nam, the lighthouse is currently under renovation, visitors can still visit the structure from the outside and walk around, watching the sea on the large rocks around.

Back to Mui Ne, check in at one of the resorts along Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street. This is a central area with many accommodations and restaurants serving all needs of tourists from budget to high-end.

Day 2

Morning

Welcome the sunrise at Bau Trang (white sand dunes), a famous tourist destination in Binh Thuan province. Bau Trang is about 25 km from the center of Mui Ne beach and is a "must-see" destination when coming to Binh Thuan. The time to play here can range from 2 to 4 hours.

"To watch the sunrise, visitors should arrive around 5am. When the sun is high, it will be hot and tiring," said Mr. Nam. Visitors can also come here in the afternoon, around 4-6pm, to enjoy the sunset.

Bau Trang is a white sand hill of more than 100 hectares, with a natural blue lake inside. The road leading to Bau Trang is also very beautiful, you can stop to take pictures. Here, visitors can experience activities such as sand sliding, taking pictures with camels, and riding speed vehicles (motorbikes or cars).

The price to rent a sandboard is 50,000 VND with no limit on the number of times, motorbikes, depending on the type, are from 400,000 VND to 600,000 VND for 20 minutes, cars are 800,000 VND per trip. There are some companies that provide full services such as Trang Trieu, Minh Thai right at the entrance of Bau Trang area.

"Note that if you have a weak heart or are not used to high speeds, you should not participate in the games, because it may not be good for your health," Mr. Nam added.

Noon

Return to Mui Ne to swim and relax. If you are a traveler, you can choose to visit some famous places in Binh Thuan such as Ong Dia rock beach in Mui Ne beach area.

The Fish Sauce Museum (Ancient Fishing Village), about 8 km from Phan Thiet city, is divided into many spaces with different themes, recreating the 300-year history of the fishing village in ancient Phan Thiet from the Champa period, the Nguyen Dynasty, and the French colonial period. Visitors will also be able to play the role of fishermen, salt workers in the salt fields, visit Phan Thiet old town, explore the process of making fish sauce, the origin of the name fish sauce and buy fish sauce products.

Alternatives

Po Sah Inư Cham Tower, Ong Hoang Tower, Mui Ne fishing village are destinations that can be chosen for a 2-day trip. If tourists come to Binh Thuan as backpackers, they can refer to coastal camping areas such as Cu Lao Cau, Cam Binh beach, Yen cape and Ke Ga lighthouse.
