Binh Thuan tourism flourishes, affirming its mark on Vietnam's tourism map

The most attractive destination in the South Central region

In recent years, Binh Thuan tourism has continuously grown in both quality and quantity, becoming one of the most attractive destinations in the South Central region.

According to Mr. Bui The Nhan, in early 2023, Binh Thuan is expected to welcome 8.3 million tourists, an increase of 2.1 million compared to 2022 (6.2 million visitors), with revenue reaching 19,500 billion VND. Of which, international visitors are expected to reach about 220,000. By the end of November, the province had exceeded the set target, with the number of visitors increasing by 16.4%, of which foreign visitors doubled compared to last year.

The above results were achieved from the fact that Binh Thuan tourism industry actively implemented many tourism promotion activities, advised on organizing large-scale events to attract tourists.

In particular, a series of events responding to the National Tourism Year 2023 "Binh Thuan - Green Convergence" such as the Opening Ceremony of the National Tourism Year 2023; Street Culture Week; Cau Ngu Festival; Stop And Run Marathon BTV Binh Thuan 2023; display and exhibition "Binh Thuan cultural heritage connecting regions"...

Besides, the Director of the Department of Culture - Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan said that tourism businesses have gradually recovered and developed, constantly improving the quality of tourist services and enhancing tourism human resource training.

"Businesses are actively implementing many new and attractive tourism product packages, along with appropriate tourism stimulus discount programs, attracting a large number of tourists from the Southern and Central Highlands provinces to visit and relax, especially during holidays and Tet," Mr. Nhan emphasized.

Not only that, Binh Thuan tourism has flourished thanks to convenient transportation and infrastructure connection. The two expressways Phan Thiet-Dau Giay and Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet have been put into operation, shortening travel time from localities to Binh Thuan, creating a huge boost to help the local tourism industry break through.

The province also upgraded and expanded National Highway 28B; completed construction of coastal roads and routes connecting the coastal road with National Highway 1A, expressways... "Binh Thuan is also among the top localities in the country with large revenue, over 10,000 billion VND. This has affirmed the mark of provincial tourism on the map of Vietnam tourism," said Mr. Nhan.

To keep tourism "taking off"

At the meeting to listen to the report on the socio-economic situation, national security and defense in 2023 and the direction and tasks for 2024 organized by the People's Committee, many opinions noted the outstanding bright spot of tourism in the economic picture of Binh Thuan. Thereby, the proposed target of welcoming visitors in 2024 will strive to reach 8.8 million visitors (an increase of more than 5% compared to 2023).

To promote tourism, Binh Thuan also considers developing the night-time economy and has a project to develop the night-time economy of Binh Thuan province until 2030.

Mr. Bui The Nhan said that this project places Phan Thiet as the center of the night economy, in the heart of the existing urban area. The second night economy area is in Ham Tien - Mui Ne - the "resort capital" developed by businesses and associations themselves. The third night economy area is Ke Ga in the urban areas of Thanh Long Bay and NovaWorld Phan Thiet.

At the same time, the province will also organize annual events, imbued with the province's tourism style associated with natural elements, such as a professional cycling race taking advantage of the Bau Trang double road, a Sand Hill off-road motorcycle race, kite surfing on the sea, and a kite festival on Trinh Nu Hill. Binh Thuan is designing sports competitions specifically for tourists such as kite flying, parasailing, marathons, etc.

According to experts, in addition to promoting the image and brand, in order for Binh Thuan tourism to continue to "take off", it is necessary to focus on improving quality and expanding connections, creating many new, high-class products and services.

At the same time, it is necessary to continue to promote the advantages of the destination with many attractive types of tourism, especially sea - island tourism, forest - waterfall - lake exploration, sea - sand dune entertainment sports. From there, invite strategic investors with capacity and experience to implement "highlight" projects according to the province's development plan.

In addition, Binh Thuan needs to focus on investing in completing the telecommunications and information technology infrastructure system, providing free Wifi at tourist areas and spots, spreading the image of a "Safe - Friendly - Attractive - Quality" destination to a large number of domestic and foreign tourists.
