On December 28, in Hanoi, the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics summarized and awarded the 2023 Outstanding Mathematics Project Award.
The National Key Program for the Development of Mathematics for the 2010-2020 period (Mathematics Program) was approved by the Prime Minister in Decision No. 1483/QD-TTg dated August 17, 2010. One of the goals of the program is to improve the level and position of Vietnamese Mathematics in the international arena. In recent years, one of the solutions implemented is to increase the quantity and quality of international publications, and at the same time, award outstanding works to encourage young mathematicians.
Since 2012, the Math Program Executive Board has organized the selection and awarding of prizes for Mathematical works published in prestigious international journals.
To carry out the solution tasks of the new phase of the Mathematics Program, the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics, in coordination with the Department of Science and Technology, Ministry of Education and Training, developed a regulation for awarding awards for outstanding Mathematics works under the national key program for Mathematics development in the period 2021 to 2030.
In 2023, in the first round of awarding the prize, the Institute for Advanced Study in Mathematics received 161 applications for the award of mathematical works. As a result, the list of winners included 35 works (from 20 Vietnamese universities). For groups, the 3 educational institutions with the highest number of award-winning works are the University of Science - Vietnam National University, Hanoi with 5 award-winning works (2 first prizes, 1 second prize and 2 third prizes); Hanoi University of Science and Technology has 4 award-winning works (2 second prizes and 2 third prizes); Hanoi National University of Education has 3 award-winning works (1 first prize and 2 third prizes) and will receive a certificate of merit from the Minister of Education and Training.
