20 years of "sticking" to the grid, contributing to safe electricity

Nearly 20 years of working in the electricity industry is also the same amount of time that Mr. Tran Anh Hung - Captain of the Operation Management Team, Thach Ha Power Company (Ha Tinh) has been improving his professional skills, contributing to improving the reliability of power supply and minimizing grid incidents.

It took many appointments before I could meet Mr. Tran Anh Hung (born in 1970) because the weather was hot, this team leader had to spend most of his time with his colleagues "watching" the net and handling incidents at the base.

Returning to the office after a midday transformer loading session in Thach Hai commune, Mr. Hung took the opportunity to talk about his career.

“In 2004, I officially entered the electricity industry as an operator at Ky Anh Power Company. In addition to the knowledge I received from training, I worked hard to learn from my colleagues to get acquainted with the local power grid as well as gradually improve my professional skills. With the characteristic of a long power supply radius, Ky Anh power grid also goes through many types of terrain (plains, mountains, coastal areas...), so operation work encountered many difficulties. Moreover, the power grid at that time was not invested in synchronously like now, the quality of electricity was worse, there were more incidents, forcing staff and operators to be on duty regularly to promptly overcome and repair defects on the grid as well as promptly detect grid incidents”.

After many years working at Ky Anh Power Company, Mr. Tran Anh Hung still remembers the times he went to maintain, repair the grid, and handle incidents in the upper communes such as Ky Son, Ky Lac, Ky Thuong... "Working on the grid all day, there were no shops, we had to "pack rice and rice balls" and go on the road. Although it was difficult, with the support of the Board of Directors of Ky Anh Power Company along with my skills and experience, I was able to proactively handle the situations" - Mr. Hung recalled.

After 10 years working for Ky Anh power grid, in 2010, Mr. Hung was transferred to Thach Ha Power Company. At that time, he was considered a “newbie”, but with his passion for learning and responsibility for his work, Mr. Hung quickly asserted himself in the new environment.

“The experience in managing and operating the grid in Ky Anh has helped me gain practical knowledge to be proactive in my work. In Thach Ha, the coastal power grid is affected by frost, and equipment on the grid often has rust leading to incidents. I have researched and advised leaders on the selection and installation of suitable equipment; at the same time, equipment must be regularly inspected and maintained to improve operational capacity,” Mr. Hung shared.

Working with the power grid every day, he always worries, researches and applies effective solutions to help shorten equipment installation time, reduce troubleshooting time... With his contributions to the development of Thach Ha power grid, after only 2 years in the new environment, in 2012, Mr. Hung was trusted by the leadership to be appointed as the Captain of the Operation Management Team.

In his new position, Mr. Hung has promptly advised the unit's leaders to assign plans for operational management, production and business targets to groups, teams and individuals. Every week and month, the unit holds meetings to evaluate the level of completion to give timely rewards, contributing to high efficiency in work.

Since 2012, Mr. Hung (right) was trusted by the leadership to be appointed as the Captain of the Operation Management Team after only 2 years of transferring to another work unit.

During the historic flood in 2020, the Thach Ha district power grid was flooded over a large area. Through monitoring and direct inspection, Mr. Hung advised to cut off power to deeply flooded areas, ensuring electrical safety for the people. When the floodwaters receded, many electrical equipment were damaged, affected by being submerged in water for a long time, he and his colleagues worked hard to check, find out the cause and research, propose feasible solutions to quickly put the power grid back into safe and stable operation, serving the daily life and production and business needs of people and businesses in the area.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Hieu - Director of Thach Ha Power Company said: “Mr. Tran Anh Hung has “memorized” the characteristics of each line and equipment; always closely follows the grid, closely follows the scene to promptly advise the unit's leaders on solutions for safe and stable grid operation as well as promptly and effectively handle incidents arising on the grid. In particular, the Thach Ha district power grid is extensive, passing through many types of terrain (plains, coastal areas, Tra Son areas) with harsh weather conditions that have significantly affected the operation process. Mr. Hung and the Operation Management Team promptly advised the leaders on choosing suitable equipment, improving the grid's operational capacity as well as minimizing incidents. With the contributions of comrade Hung and the efforts of the whole team, the reliability of the Thach Ha power grid has continuously increased, incidents have decreased significantly, and the rate of power loss has decreased significantly compared to before”.

Along with "sticking" to the grid, Mr. Tran Anh Hung and his colleagues often research and study to find solutions to safely manage and operate the grid.

With his efforts to overcome difficulties and successfully complete his tasks, for many consecutive years, Mr. Tran Anh Hung has been honored to receive certificates of merit from the Northern Power Corporation and Ha Tinh Power Company. Most recently, he was awarded a certificate of merit by the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee for his outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Good workers, creative workers" for the period 2022 - 2023. The recognition of leaders and colleagues will be a new motivation for him to continue to stick with and be passionate about his profession with the consistent goal of "for safe electricity".
